What kind of power plug can be used for the q10 pro ? specs ? Mine broke & need to get a better quality alternative.

Recommended: PSU with 12V 2A+ (I use a 4A adapter myself) with on the AC side an Earthed power plug (has 3 pins). The AC power cable is detachable in most cases. Provided adapters hardly ever provide earth on the AC side as the matching HQ cable and plugs drive up costs. Be sure to plug it into a power socket with earth too. This way USB and HDMI ports on the media player become grounded which is not trivial.
Oversizing an adapter hardly consumes more power when not absorbed (switched mode power supplies). As they stay very cool they live forever.
Don't underestimate the effect of the PSU on the total video/audio quality as strange as it may seem. Top-end equipment pays a lot of attention to the power section with very good reasons. For top results use a 12V 4A linear power supply (probably as expensive as the player itself). Have a professional lab linear power supply for testing purposes.
The DC plug is standard 5.5 mm outside with 2.1 mm inside (some DC plugs are 2.6 mm inside) . Outside is neutral and inside 12V.
Bought my 12V 4A adapters (2.6 mm plug) with DC plug converters (2.6 ==> 2.1mm out) to deal with both variants.

I prefer to be safe because I have a HD inside and 2 external USB drives.

I'm tempted to swap mine out as well...is there risk with going above 4A? On Amazon I see a lot of 5A+ models with the same pin size.

No risk at all. The box will only draw the amperage it needs.
