Sigh......so this is part 2 of my audio problems, I've solved the DTS HD issue by resetting the amp. But now a problem has surfaced which I did not notice earlier. Basically the player cannot play mkv files encoded with flac or AAC or pcm. Whether it is the hi media or Kodi player.
I don't think it's the receiver as I hard resetted. A few times and the indication on the onkyo amp shows no audio signals. Video has no issue playing.....please help.

Forgot to add that I set the hdmi output to both auto and raw, still does not work. HBR to 5.1 or 7.1 to no avail

It definitely can play 2 channel audio in mkv encoded as FLAC / AAC / PCM.
Settings shouldn't matter too much for a stereo audio track.
Can you post either a link to a sample file that doesn't play or a mediainfo report?

I don' t have it with me at the moment but it is the standard 4k files that are readily available on the net (either Sony, LG or Samsung demos)

Ok, I've solved the no 2 channel audio issue. I did a reflash of the latest firmware (the Q10 was actually already delivered with the latest firmware). This is a clean upgrade ie everything was reflashed and all settings lost. Now the system audio can play ALL audio from the movie.
