There is also a new version of HiMedia's Android remote app, compatible with Android 7 phones.

It requires firmware 2.0.3 or later installed on the Q5/Q10 Pro.

Not solved. You must disable joystick in addons.

How to set wrapper to be default in kodi?
Now is kodi player default.

That's a Kodi 17 'feature'. It's easily disabled:

* Stop Kodi 17 new remote message and disabled back / menu buttons? In Kodi, go Add-ons / My add-ons / Peripheral libraries / Joystick Support / Disable

How to set wrapper to be default in kodi?
Now is kodi player default.

Nothing wrapper related has changed since 2.0.3. I get wrapper as default.

If wrapper settings need resetting:

* How to reinstall or uninstall wrapper? Go My Apps - Wrapper and select either 'use wrapper player' or 'use Kodi player'. Toggling to 'use Kodi player', exiting wrapper app, then running wrapper app again and selecting 'use wrapper player' will reinstall wrapper.

No BD-ISO Full Menu as yet?

BD-ISO menus were never promised/expected from this firmware.

It plays UHD/BD ISOs from the .iso file, but with simple menus.

This should restore pre-installed wrapper settings:

* How to reinstall or uninstall wrapper? Go My Apps - Wrapper and select either 'use wrapper player' or 'use Kodi player'. Toggling to 'use Kodi player', exiting wrapper app, then running wrapper app again and selecting 'use wrapper player' will reinstall wrapper.

It can be done manually:

- Using LAN, navigate to Q5/Q10 Pro: \\ANDROID_SomeNumbersThatAreDifferentThanMine\share\sdcard\Android\data\org.xbmc.kodi\files\.kodi\userdata
- Paste the attached playercorefactory.xml file

Upgraded from 1.09, good instructions. At every update step I always loaded and shutdown at least 3 times for every in-between version.
Upgraded Kodi to 17.3 by google play. Working and building my library, using black glass nova skin. So far verry stable. Initial it plays using himedia player, no issues with wrapper but I didn't touched it.
2017-07-08 latest himedia control app working now.

My first impressions:

1: Picture quality has improved , although I cannot see much difference between imprex engine On or OFF

2. I like the new menu in the Media Control

3. CEC is BAD again!!! :( It was fixed in 2.0.3 but now again my home cinema will not change sources when switching to or from Q10. I have to switch sources manually. No matter what, I have reconfigured Home Cinema and Tv again so they can interact through HDMI CEC but it is not switching sources nor switching itself on/off when I turn the the TV on/off. This is a disappointment!  >:( :(

I followed the instructions to the letter.
If I go in settings and upgrade, the file is there so the usb/format/name should be good.

Everything works up to the android logo with the red triangle, the progress bar comes on for about 4 seconds then it goes to the himedia logo then the home page, all within about 10 seconds.

I have tried factory reset, remove hd and air remote.

Any help would be appreciated.

Fyi, this is a new box with android 7 with the 2.0.3 version installed from you guys.

One question

if using himedia player, do I need to install frame switch script or the new firmware will handle it automatically?

And Q10 Android 5?

HiSilicon (chipset vendor) are only provding SDK updates for Android 7, so HiMedia have to follow suit.

With this new 2.0.4 there aren't many reasons why Android 5 firmware is better or worth sticking with.

No. 2 channel only from Kodi internal player.

SPMC or Kodi 'shitty' builds will give up to 5.1 passthrough.

Kodi+wrapper gives full HD-Audio for local media.

FW 2.0.4 looks very stable. Happy user here.

A bug found ( Kodi): via NFS share,  kodi player is default (must select "play using").
Same share but via SMB, wrapper is default.
Any workaround?

Netflix works ok here in the UK.

That's with all apps updated using Play Store.

There is lots of info about 15001 error online. Maybe time not set to automatic update?

It is set to automatic. I think something went wrong with my update. I updated from CFW 2.0.1 to 2.0.3, then to 2.0.4, as you told us. It almost looks like some apps do not detect Internet access. Kodi would fail a lot of time when installing an addon. Netflix only opened with the preinstalled version, which is too old. As soon as I sideloaded the latest version from APKMirror, it stopped working. I will redo the installation.

Is it ok if go back to CFW 2.0.1 and then upgrade to 2.0.4? Why do we have to install 2.0.3?

There is definitely something changed. I went back to 2.0.3, Netflix showed an error that the device is not supported, pointing me to Netflix 4 on their website. After installing it, Netflix would crash. I went back to 2.0.1 and I can install and use any Netflix version. Something is not quite right. I will upgrade to 2.0.3 and then to 2.0.4 anc check it Netflix is working. Not being able to use Netflix is a deal breaker for me, even if it is just SD.

I installed 2.0.4 and watched 4k, HDR movies.
Kodi+Wrapper (Kodi upgraded from playstore to 17.3)
1. LUCY, the one with problems because of the aspect ratio, can be heard (audio working), subtitles appear, BUT THE IMAGE IS BLACK. No image at all.
2. Smurfs2, the same. BLACK IMAGE.
3.my 4k, HDR, Panasonic TV does not show 2160P/HDR sign anymore when movies start (for movies still playing with image), so signal leaving Q10Pro has problems...
Using Himedia mediaplayer alone.
Films play beautifully, with 2160p/HDR signal and correct aspect ratio.
Any idea what is happening?...
Cheers everybody.
LATER EDIT: I figured it out myself.
After upgrading Kodi to 17.3, setup Kodi to play with internal player, open Kodi and start film, then leave Kodi.
Go again and setup Kodi to play Kodi+Wrapper, start Kodi and Ta-daaaa!!! Now films play again 4k/HDR in correct aspect ratio.

According to the changelog it should handle it by default (with 24p mode ON) as many previous firmwares. The only thing you -still- won't have is correct DVD fps switching, therefore you may install the patch (just if you tend to watch many DVD-s)... But it's not sure if the patch is compatible with this new fw.

(Speaking of): Futeko: is there any sight -finally- for correct DVD frame rate implementation in the next firmware?!

2 Download disable_android_navigation_bar_(CFW)_HMD-2.0.4 (http://www.mediafire.com/?1gf285u9nkybaey)
Rename disable_android_navigation_bar_(CFW)_HMD-2.0.4.zip to update.zip and copy to USB pen flash
Back your sensitive data / kodi /etc...
Apply update.zip from Setting/Upgrade/Local Upgrade

Hi! One question, what's the purpose of the "HDCP2.2 switch" available in the player advanced settings for the last 2.0.4? I don't remember it was there on the 5.1 firmware.

Thanks

Not sure if it's just me, but I can't change the default launcher anymore. Tried different launchers, they ask me if I want to set it to default when I run them, but I can't choose them in Settings > Apps > Configure apps > Home app. Only option is the Launcher_3D.

For some reason this new firmware won't install.

Take a look in Windows on the USB stick, it must be fat32 formated and it must be empty, only the update.zip must be there.

Had the same problem - use a different USB stick , that solved my problem

After hours of messin around, I finally got it.
After trying everything I was able to install it simply by reformatting to NTFS, now i have the 2.0.4 version.

Downgraded to 2.03 and I'm able to change the default launcher again. In 2.04 the default launcher can't be changed.

As I see you have to disable joystick support, taken from futeko answer before

Well, I reluctantly decided to try  upgrading from Android 5.1 to 7 using this firmware.  Some previous bugs seem to have been fixed but I would still rate firmware 1.09 as easier to use.  Fortunately, 2.04 has restored Bluetooth functionality for use with a keyboard and my WiFi works again.  Unfortunately, in order to access a LAN/Network drive I have to use an external file manager.  Trying to add a shortcut under Media Center only results in a "Network State" error.  It doesn't matter if I try to use the auto network or manually enter it.  Also, I don't use Kodi so I use the HiMedia Player...which I see is now just called "Video Player" when selecting a playback method from external file manager.  Sometimes, remote control buttons don't work well ...Pause/Play/FF/Rew/etc.

You mean 500Mbps download speed on the side of the Q10 Pro itself? Is it constant for longer period? I guess it's with cable?!  500Mbps should be far enough for even the highest bitrate 4K  BDs , something else must be wrong here... :???

Please check your home network. When having buffer problems. Its NOT the lan speed. Please report how your network is setup before replying about network speed!

Streaming from qnap ts-453a on gigabit lan is my setup.
Never any problems with streaming. Even a 100mbit lan should do it when setup right!

Streaming NAS WLAN does'nt work for default player. Works only with Kodi Player.
My WLAN Speed is 45/50Mbps and is the same of prevoius firmware versions.
No films works in Wifi with q10 player, indifferently  of size.
In previous versione no problems.
Only video file gived to me problems in others firmware is Sintel.4K.x264.DD.DTS.SRT.mkv.

Hi everybody, and many thanks to Futeko for keeping this meeting site for Himedia users.

It's been two days trying and retrying things with this new firmware, a big change for me because until now I was stuck at Firmware 1.0.9, Android 5.1. I had some problems of black screen inbetween plays so everything was not well.

For now, Kodi part seems great, with the 17.3 Krypton version, Aeon MQ7 skin and some tweaks here and there. I have no problem with Kodi player, as I use Kodi just as a front-end, and I'm happy with the wrapper. The only handicap I've noticed is that the Add-on 'Watchedlist' has worked for the films part, but not  for the series episodes part, don't know why. Some kind of imdb identifier not recognized, it says. I've had to check on all those episodes manually. one by one Well, everything in the process of re-recognizing the whole list of films and episodes is loooong and slow  :-\

My main complain about this firmware is the Netflix app. Their most up-to-date apps don't work, they don't even try to connect. It always displays the same 2 error codes: 15.001 and 1.001. These apps were indeed working with Fimware 1.0.9 on Android 5.1, so something has gone wrong in the process and it must not be an issue from Netflix. I've tried some older Netflix apps, and surprisingly they connect and you can log in and play something. But the moment you stop the playing, there's a crash and you are back at Home, so this is not a solution.

I've tried Amazon Prime app too. It connects and you can go on till the moment you play something. Then there's a 2 seconds play and it crashes back to Home. For me, it was working perfectly on F1.0.9.

Regards.

Good point! Futeko, can you confirm: Is the patch compatible and do we need to install the patch or not?

the wifi streaming doesn't work with q10 player when i am in Kodi.
If i use Movie Bar streaming works great, except for Sintel 4K DTS.

Done, wrapper is selected in my apps but now is gone from kodi. Only kodi player is active. Can i install wrapper manually?
Never have such problem until now.
Thanks for your patience ;D

Instructions and playercorefactory borrowed from here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1849.0

Via samba - same share - wrapper is default.
Via NFS - same share- kodi player is default.
What i'm doing wrong?

Check your playercorefactory.xml.
In the past release there was a stupid line forcing nfs to go to Kodi
<rule protocols="nfs|http|rtmp|sop" player="VideoPlayer" /> <!--all nfs-->

I remove it and I had no problems for the past 2 months. Maybe, for some unexplained reason, Himedia choose to keep it in the new release. With no explanation of the reason, this looks just stupid from Himedia.

That line is there because wrapper didn't used to work with NFS shares.

It can and should be removed.

As i told my problems before , now i must say, very happy with  firm 2.04. Very stable and fast, i think there is also a better PQ. Very good.
Runs good also with Kodi 17.3. I came from 1.09, since i change the first time to 2.0.0 and went back to android5.

Now happy with this release, waiting for BR Full menu reading, in the future.  THX Futeko

I have the opposite impression  >:(.

Kodi version 17.3 - Turns on once for several attempts,Pops up the message when enabled: System process not repsonding, Kodi not responding.

Remote controler Rii i25 - OK button does not always react, During youtube playback, I can not change the quality of watching movies, The arrow on the TV screen turns into a dash And I have to use a standard remote control which is very frustrating

Can I install Nona launcher with 2.04 firmware?

No. Default launcher cannot be changed with 2.0.4.

* Change default launcher? In some firmwares (notably 2.0.4) you cannot change default launcher. There are two solutions: 1. http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=711.msg13152#msg13152 2. Install one of the CS custom firmwares, where launcher can be changed: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=812.0

Firmware 2.0.4 is excellent, best one so far.

The one last item on my wishlist is seamless support for DVD/BD-ROM drive. In Android 5, it is promptly recognized by the native file manager, while in Android 7 it is a pain in the ass to get it to work. Please, appreciate this to be added to the feedback list to Himedia.

Thanks again !!

You are experiencing problems that other users are not and there have now been a large number of 2.0.4 downloads (and I presume installs).

I advise installing 2.0.1, then 2.0.3, then 2.0.4 in that order. All using the restore button method.

That will give you a completely fresh install.

I was really hoped that it will be finally a good upgrade, but I had to be disappointed again... In this way the whole Imprex is totally useless. The flickering was also present in 2.0.3, and the history of the problem goes way back to the beginning. (I guess neither 1.1.0 nor 2.0.1 had it). So I will still have to stick to the good old 1.0.9 (after so many months waiting)... :(

You could just turn off Imprex?

Picture quality is excellent without it and your TV probably has a setting replicating some of what Imprex does.

I'd say remote controller works worse than before. I've noticed Q10 doesn't seem to notice a fair amount of clicks on the remote. Many times you have to click again for it to get the signal.

Hi, since 2.04, I can't find my NAS (synology 1813+), through media centre LAN or Kodi.
Media Centre - LAN - Auto search : "No Server"
I have tried installing 2.04 custom firmware with same result.
But via ES File Explorer, it can find my network (NAS).

I didn't have this issue with 2.03 and before.

Please help..

And how can I re-install 2.03 ? Currently I'm on 2.04 Custom Firmware.
I have tried re-install 2.04, downgrade to 5 first, etc, not success....

Here is my thoughts on new 2.04 firmware...

Im coming from 2.01 as had too many issues with 2.03..

So far I think this firmware is awesome. And best I have used... Was worth the wait...

I use emby server over a gigabit network using kodi 17.3 and wrapper with emby kodi addon.

All my 4k, 3d mvc ISO, mkv, etc, all play smooth, no stuttering..

My 4k files are over 100Mbps and play perfect...
Emby is set to use smb direct for streaming..

Picture quality has improved, and sound also it seems...

I can now use all hardware acceleration in kodi for addons in kodi... And now all video plays without freezing and stuttering..
With previous firmware, had to turn off one of the hardware accelerator to get non studdering  video with addons..

Awesome...

Also seems 3d mvc 24fps ISO now play perfect... (limited testing, but so far so good).

Interface overall seems snapper and now hdr works great.....

Im a happy... Well done..

Just wish we had auto resolution switching...
So if watching 1080p files, it outputs 1080p. And if 4k, changes to 4k output...

Im using high end gear, with a projector, and everything seems to work nicer now...

Thanks

I don't think downgrading to 2.0.3 is a good idea. It's a bad firmware.

But, if you really wanted to then you should be able to install 2.0.3 direct over 2.0.4 using RESTORE button method (instructions in firmware thread).

Cause when I do that, the android logo appears with error sign, then reboot.

Yes, of course, I have manually entered everything correctly.
I've done these before & it worked.
But now, when I finished key in, it says LAN has stopped working, but when I check, the shortcut is created.
When I click the shortcut however, it says "Query is error".

I have been trying to re-flash the firmware, but not success..

I had this issue on 2.01 also..

Easy fix...

Don't use auto...

Use manual..
Enter the ip address etc, and it will work...

It doesn't work. It always say "Query is error".
Really stressfull..

Just to check..

Did you enter correct ip addresses and share name..

You can confirm address on windows computer under under its sharing info.. To make sure...

I don't use password etc so onky enter ip, share name and leave user /password blank..

When I power on, it shows the error android (slept android with red ! sign on it).

rrggghhhhhh...

I'm having a similar problem, except mine never worked on any of the 2.0.x firmware...worked fine in the 1.0.X versions.  I have an external drive hooked up to the back of a Linksys EA9500.  I can access the drive using ES File Manager.  I haven't tried Kodi but when I try to add shortcut under Media Center I can get to the server...using Auto Search or Manual...and it can actually find the shared folder I want.  When I select it, however, all I get is a "Network error.  check network state" error message.  I'm not sure what the problem is or an alternative way to access.  I'd like to be able to access the network drive using HiMedia Media Center...not just ES File Manager.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks.

reinstalled
fw 2.0.1  80% and reboot   HIMADIA
fw 2.0.3  80 % and reboot  HIMADIA
fw  2.0.4 80% and reboot   HIMADIA
All installations with the reset button method
reboot q10  with fw number exact,
How is it possible that the installation of the fw Never ends up 100%?

Is the firmware installing correctly?

If it does then I don't think whether the firmware install progress bar reaches 100% matter much.

I had android 5.1 i went to fw 2.0.4
Using this procedure
If you are installing from a 5.1 firmware firmware on Android you must install first official 2.0.1, then official 2.0.3 (because 2.0.3 can not be installed directly from Android 5.1) then 2.0.4.
- 2.0.4 can be installed directly on custom CS 2.0.3 folding.

what do I have to do ?

what do I have to do?

What does 'Fw does not install 100%' mean?

Do you just mean that the progress bar doesn't get all the way to the right before rebooting?

Or is there something wrong with the firmware after you've installed it?

If the firmware installs correctly it doesn't matter if the bar doesn't reach the end.

After installation I have instability problems
The Q10 does not keep date and time, kodi does not keep libraries
And Q 10 does not come out of kodi
I wonder if these problems are because the fw does not install 100% or anything else

It is normal for the progress bar during firmware update to not get all the way across. If the box reboots into the new firmware then the install is 100% complete. Q10 Pro does not keep time between reboots, it gets the time from the internet on each boot. Not sure about Kodi not keeping libraries and Kodi instability.

The cleanest 2.0.4 firmware reinstall you can do is to go 2.0.1 > 2.0.3 > 2.0.4. This will give you an 'as new' system.

Cec problems again with 2.0.4 on my set-up. confuses my soundbar and stops communication with devices.

Decided  to kill the cec on this box once and for all with a no-pin 13 hdmi adaptor.  More expense, more hassle but at least this will sort it.

May I totally disagree here? This procedure carries over accumulative all add-on's on the various images.

The cleanest install is: Factory Reset current firmware, install FW 2.0.4 and again a Factory Reset. Guaranteed no impact of previous installations and or backward incompatibilities. Some other brands offer an Emergency Flash of the "Total ROM image" effectually resulting in the same.

Changing launcher wallpapers is difficult with official firmware. I think it was the same with Android 5. The only way to do it, from FAQ:

* Change launcher wallpaper? The only way to change wallpaper is through HiMedia's himediaplayer app. Navigate to the image you want to use, then press remote menu - Wallpaper.

A better alternative is to install pcristi custom 2.0.4, where background wallpaper can be changed.

I also came from 1.0.9. After each update step I rebooted the device a couple of times to settle the firmware, at least 3 times after the first initial boot.
So - upgrade to 2.0.1 - after initial setup boot 3 times
Upgrade to 2.0.3 - after initial setup boot 3 times
Upgrade to 2.0.4 - after initial setup boot 3 times and start the buildup/configuration as you want it.

Try uninstalling wrapper. Does Kodi player work now?

Now reinstall wrapper.

You path would work but is very long from any FW straight : Factory Reset current firmware, install FW 2.0.4  via the paperclip procedure.
The emergency flash procedure using the paperclip implicitly wipes data, APP's and settings. Doing it twice is playing it safe. As this FW is based on a new HiSillicon SDK, a 100% clean install is highly recommended.

@q10pro1 Try this to clean your setup and see if it improves?

I would advise against doing a factory reset after installing the last firmware. The firmware update process involves some apps being installed on the first boot, these would be removed and absent if you then did a factory reset.

The reason I recommend installing 2.0.1 first is that 2.0.1 re-partitions internal flash. Later firmwares (2.0.3 / 2.0.4 etc) do not. Android 5.1 fw 1.0.7 does similar for Android 5 installs.

If you install 2.0.1 then 2.0.3 then 2.0.4, all using the restore button (paperclip) method you will wipe all data on the box 3 times. It will be clean.

It's Mediafire. It has global mirrors. Download speed is very good for most users.

I think perhaps the question is, where are you located to get such low speeds?

Agree Add-On's will be lost by any Factory Reset to get them back an additional repeat local upgrade via USB or OTA will do to get those back.
Updated my text accordingly.

This long procedure will work just fine, provided the paperclip method is used, overlooked that it was in the instructions to do so.  :)

A dependency that a certain FW must be loaded first to emergency load a newer one is absolute crap. Only for standard OTA upgrades via the network or USB it may be valid. If it is really the case for emergency restores the responsible person should get a decent talk. The emergency procedure is meant to restore an OS system which may have been corrupted and may only depend on the boot-loader to be still present and intact and nothing else. PM me if you disagree. >:(

After 5 hours download time, the archive is corrupted. Where is the archive hosted ?! Average download speed is 20kb/s...

It's Mediafire. It has global mirrors. Download speed is very good for most users.

I think perhaps the question is, where are you located to get such low speeds?

I'm from Romania. The 2.0.3 archive downloaded in like 15 mins, but the 2.0.4 takes forever unfortunately. I'll give it one more try... Hope it won't be corrupted at the end.

If you can unpack the update.zip, than it's not corrupted.

Edit: Sorry, I've just read your previous post. Maybe time to change your  service provider?! I would advise Digi. (OFF / off)

I have Gigabit bandwidth from Digi, so my internet speed is not the fault here.

Well, the latest update is full of issues. I have a lot off apps that can't run, they simply close (Nova launcher, video players and others), I can't change the default  launcher.
Also the lan communication is slow as hell.

I did also a factory reset, hoping it will fix the issue but it didn't. Any idea what I can do? other than installing previews versions...

Updated the FW from 2.0.1 to 2.0.4 (Had uninstalled 2.0.3 due to serious issues already discussed in other threads). Facing following issues:

1. The Mii 3 Remote freezes occassionally. Buttons cease to function with this FW.

2. While playing a downloaded content through Media Center of the App, the player auto restarts when you change a setting by pressing the Menu icon of the remote. Unlike earlier, you cant drag a video to a desired time as there is no such functionality in the new media player with this FW. Only remote buttons of fast Forward and Fast Backward work with X2, X4 etc pre settings. It is highly inconvenient.

3. Youtube App force restarts occassionally much cause to worry as I watch You tube a lot.

4. No Amazon Prime Video working.

From the CFW 2.0.4 changelog: - New HiMediaVideoPlayer(VideoPlayer VideoPlay) not accept AirMouse/HiControl inputs.

I have asked and the HiMediaPlayer version is the same in both in 2.0.4 CFW and in the official. Don't know if they're related, but it seams that something is definitely buggy here with the airmouse support. Just another reason why not to install this -otherwise promising at first glance- update.

I wonder why others with the MX3 airmouse supplied din't reported the malfunction so far. :???

The new version of himediaplayer works with an airmouse if you disable the mouse cursor. It was designed for the IR remote.

So, on the Rii MX3-M for example, you can just press the arrow button to disable airmouse and it can be controlled normally with remote d-button.

I agree that it should also work with the mouse cursor. This has been passed to Himedia.

This update isn't broken, thousands of users have downloaded (and I presume installed) it and the feedback has been generally good.

If you've come from Android 5.1 then some apps might not be compatible with Android 7. Most are, but if the app developers can't be bothered to provide updates that is not the fault of HiMedia.

To change default launcher, from FAQ: * Change default launcher? In some firmwares (notably 2.0.4) you cannot change default launcher. There are two solutions: 1. http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=711.msg13152#msg13152 2. Install one of the CS custom firmwares, where launcher can be changed: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=812.0

LAN is still very fast (~65MB/s), but some users report that it's slightly slower than earlier firmware (~80MB/s). This has been passed to Himedia and they'll look at tweaking it in future firmware.

In the end, nobody is forcing you to use latest firmware. If the earlier firmware (Android 5.1) suits your needs better then use it instead.  :)

Hi, I've installed 2.04 custom firmware, and everything seems Good so far.

1 thing that I notice and am still a bit confused is on playing Blu-Ray TV Show with menu just like DVD Menu.
For example : Blu-Ray "Friends" Season 8 where the folder contains several episodes.
Kodi won't play.
It will work only if I browse to the file folder, and select index.bdmv by hold & press, then choose "Play using..", I choose Video Player,
then it plays but only first episode, then stop. It doesn't continue to next episode, nor show the Blu-Ray / DVD Menu where we can choose the episodes.

I finally seems to be able to play it correctly (show menu) if I change the wrapper setting to Kodi Player.

Could somebody confirm on these below :
1. If we want to play Blu-Ray with correct audio, framerate, etc, better set wrapper to use himedia internal video player.
2. if we need to play DVD Menu DVD or Blu-Ray copy, then we need to set to Kodi player.
Is that correct ?

Is there any other simpler solution then to change wrapper setting ?
Do we need to restart / reboot Q10 Pro everytime we change wrapper setting for it to take effect ?

Will Futeko enhance their internal  video player to be able to play DVD Menu correctly ? in the coming firmware probably ?

Thanks.

1. BD-ISO with 5.1 audio and at correct framrate is possible with Kodi internal player and the Kodi auto-framerate add-on (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1015.0). If you want 7.1 audio you will need to use wrapper.
2. To play DVD or BD menus you need to use Kodi internal player. Himediaplayer (wrapper) will play them using a custom simple menu.

You only need to restart Kodi for new wrapper setting to take effect.

I would like my regular Blu-Ray (BDMV structure and 3D ISO) are played using HiMedia Internal Player, while BluRay (TV Show) with DVD/BD Menu using Kodi Internal Player.
Could you please advise on the mod I need to make in the coreplayerfactory ?

I'm also waiting for this official fix, since more than 1 year (and I guess were not alone with this one). The Unofficial framerate patch is not a preferred  solution for me, as it seams to act strange (but definitely differently as the original HiMedia Player switching) while frequency switching. I'm more of a guarded according my TV...

Plays otherwise, but requires a patch to play it on the correct framerate. Without it you won't get a decent picture quality with DVDs.

There is also a new version of HiMedia's Android remote app, compatible with Android 7 phones.

It requires firmware 2.0.3 or later installed on the Q5/Q10 Pro.

Download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/qj8hoh972digcga/HiControlAndroidN.apk

Hi
I've installed the 2.0.4 / Android 7 update and everything seems to be working fine.
With the Q10 came a small keyboard/touchpad,bud that works not for an inch !,I tried a cordless mouse but that was no solution,I have a cordless keyboard bud I didn't tried that yet..
The Hicontrol software would that work on an smartphone with Android 4.4.2 ?
And the Hicontrol software goes on the Q10  ( is it showing i'm a newbie :)  ).
Is there other software that has to be installed on the smartphone ?

When upgrading from 2.0.0 I accidentally downloaded and applied the 2.0.3 version for the Q5 Pro, then when I applied the Q10 Pro 2.0.4 the box still states its a Q5. Do I need to take the firmware back to 2.0.3 this time with the correct models firmware to get it to state Q10 Pro again or perhaps even an earlier version? Tried system resets and reset updates and there was no difference with 2.0.4.

So, on the Rii MX3-M for example, you can just press the arrow button to disable airmouse and it can be controlled normally with remote d-button.

I agree that it should also work with the mouse cursor. This has been passed to Himedia.

Let me share my understanding: Rii is acting as the default remote in 2.0.4?
Is this considered as a bug or is work as intended and it will be like this forever?

If my understanding is right then I'll stay with 2.0.3 forever! How disappointed I am? Hugely! Fortunately 2.0.3 does the job in my case so I'm not left with 200E spent on a useless brick.

Your understanding is incorrect. The way IR remote and Rii remote work in 2.0.4 is exactly the same as in previous firmware.

The point being made is that the new version of Himediplayer (the HiMedia video playback app) does not allow menu items to be selected using the mouse cursor. So when using an airmouse you need to switch it into 'remote' mode. On Rii MX-3 this involves pressing the red button with an arrow underneath the OK button once.

Ah, ok, got it! That's not too bad.
Actually the "mouse" if useful in Kodi. In Himedia player only for the initial setup, in day by day use there's no much need for, if any.

I'm not sure if this has been covered before but there appears to be a problem with folder naming when using Samba for sharing from a PC.
I mentioned it in my personal thread on upgrading from 1.09 to 2.04 and have copied it here to alert it to Futeko as a possible bug. It is present in all Android 7 releases that I tested, 2.01, 2.03 and 2.04:

Quote
Samba shares are acting up. This one popped up in an earlier release, where any PC folder name that contained spaces could not be opened from HImedia Media Centre using the LAN option. The workaround, as previously, is to rename these folders so as not to contain spaces. Substituting underscore "_" for the space works. e.g. change "My Files" to "My_Files". You will need to set PC sharing again for any renamed folder, then reboot the PC and Q10.

This problem was not present with 1.09.

I have many folders using names with spaces (e.g. "Music Videos", "TV Series" "Movies W") and they have always been fine using Samba from multiple NAS drives.  This has been with 2.0.1, 2.0.3 and now 2.0.4.
There may be another networking reason you cannot open them?

Thanks for the comments.
These are not NAS connected but peer to peer wired gigabit Ethernet to a PC via a router.
I use the Media Centre LAN option to stream downloaded content from my PC to check that it runs ok from the Q10 before uploading it. Renaming the folders without spaces enables them to be read. I dropped back to 1.09 to check it and the folders with spaces could again be read. I'm running Windows 7.

BD-ISO menus were never promised/expected from this firmware.

It plays UHD/BD ISOs from the .iso file, but with simple menus.
no problem.
If you are not capable to make menu and to read the new movie UHD 4k 1.1 full rip  i 'm going to sell Himedia Q5pro to ebay and i have the best Egreat A5

No it doesn't. If you have android 5 you can't even upgrade it via OTA, you have to download the firmware.

Futeko, please note that the remote Left/Right button is not working that way with 2.0.4 HiMedia Player, as it was on previous firmwares. What I mean: there's no 10 sec  fast forward/rewind skip anymore when "doublepress". Is there any fix for this?! Thank you!

Hello!

Previously (before the release of 2.0.4) there were promises that there will be (also) a fw release based on a new SDK. Is the 2.0.4 already based on this new SDK? If not than by when we could await for this?!  :???

Thank you!

2.0.4 is based on the new SDK. The interim release (before 2.0.3) was cancelled.

Difficult to diagnose exactly what is wrong remotely, but try allocating a fixed IP to the NAS and entering it manually on Q10 Pro.

Ok, and for when we could wait for the 3D iso correct fps fix? I guess it will also need a newer SDK, and my prediction is that it won't be anytime soon?!

Thank you!

I ask for help. Since I've updated to 2.0.4, I've encountered the following issues: WIFI is very unstable, skin codes are always loaded with errors, like addon errors. For example, use xxxxxxxx skin is from this update does not download create and download extrafanart, and other little problems here and there. Can anybody suggest solutions?

I did install 2.0.4. I'm too curious to resist!
Rii not working as a mouse in Himedia player it's annoying! I understand why they chose this as the menus were never easy to click with the mouse, but skipping to a certain minute into a movie became an annoyance. It can be done, but it's much harder!
Does Q10 resumes a movie played from shares? Mine, using NFS shares, never does. Shares have rw access but Himedia seems not to be able to save a bookmark anywhere. Does this works with Samba? Or only with internal drive?
Still in testing mode. Critical stuff are working very well so I don't regret my lack of patience.

Have you tested a 3D .iso with 2.0.4?
I played "Guardians of The Galaxy (2014)" (37.1Gb .iso file) for 2 hours without noticing any video (or 7.1 audio) issues.
Playback quality was the same as using a Blu-ray disk.
I do keep 24Hz switch on in Settings.

Well, 3D plays correct more or less at 24.000FPS, but it has some minor Microstutter.
And even when you cant notice, Playback is simply wrong at 24.000Fps! Shoul be 23.976FPS.

I don't get who(authority)  said this, nowhere are taking about Frame Pack 1080p/23.976.
Just because left eye for many 3D BD  disc is 23.976fps this not mean Frame Pack 1080p/24 need to be 23.97 FrcOutRate.

Old article but still nice to be read it

Please don't post other player play Frame Pack 1080p/23.976 just if you can proved.
SBS/TAB with FrcOutRate 23.97 can be test it with Kodi and Auto framerate switching [PATCH] for KODI on Android 7 FW.

23.976 3D ISO playback is broken since day 1 in the device, becuase the output for them is 24 which results microstutters. Futeko told us that to fix this HiMedia needs to implement new HiSilicon SDK. New SDK was implemented but bug was still present: futeko told that according by HiMedia -> HiSilicon needs to fix the SDK before proper 23.976 3D ISO can be archived.

This is an ongoing issue since 2016-03, never been solved.

What is a setting for HiMedia 24Hz when you get +/-41" frame drop? HiMedia 24Hz ON/OFF make any difference for you?

For the 3D framepacked 23.976fps issue:  It seams that it also depends on your TV whether or not you will notice the microstutter. Some TV's are able to compensate it somehow, so you wouldn't ever notice any stutters at all. (This has been already discussed a long time ago, maybe you can search it over). This is the case with my Samsung H6400 (active 3D) TV as well. While others, with other TV's, still perceiving and reporting the issue.

Tho' while the "regular" 23.976fps->24Hz bug was still present (with the ver early firmwares on the beginning), with all kind of 23.976fps videos, i still had perceived 100% sure the mucrostutters on this same TV.

I just updated from 1.1.0 to 2.0.4 with krypton. the firmware was not stable with me I got several crashes with Kodi, ES file explorer and other applications.
The standard Kodi was not able to play 5.1 sound with passthrough, when I used the wrapper every file I play in Kodi give me error message " mounted error"
I was adviced to install KOdi shitty to solve the sound problem and I did but still a lot of applications including the OS when I access the settings crash from time to time. I tested it for few hours.
At the end I decided to return to version 1.1.0 with Jarvis. more stable and play all my videos.

The opening post of this thread has been updated to reflect new HiMedia's new Android 5.1 to Android 7 update files.

The new downloads make it much easier to upgrade an Android 5.1 Q10 Pro to Android 7 (firmware version 2.0.4).

Although the build numbers are different for the two downloads, the firmwares are identical. The new Android 7 > Android 7 download contains exactly the same firmware as the previous version, only the instructions are changed.

issue accessing internal harddrive through network.

Recently updated from 1.0.9. I turned on Samba service but now I can not find my harddrive to transfer files. There used to be a sda2 folder for me to put files in but now there isnt. I went through all available folders and I wasnt able to find all the media I have on the internal harddrive.

the only let down is the subtitle setting is gone, can we ask himedia to restore it back,

we need to adjust the size and position of the subtitle it is too big and block the view.

thank you

( sorry some how the full subtitle setting is there after re boot, seen like most of item is working)

From main menu: Settings - More - Display - Image Settings. You can set overall Brightness, Chrome, Contrast, Saturation.

When playing video: Menu button - PQ Settings - Display Mode - User defined. You can set Brightness, Contrast, Hue, Saturation.

Hi,

I found a bug in actual firmware 2.0.4. I use Media Center for Playback from NFS and created a shortcut to my NFS. Using the shortcut works fine and I can select my movie and Play it. if i stop Playback q10 is jumping back to Mediacenter main Screen (where you can select the shortcut to the NFS share). This happens only once  after Player is powered on. this was not the case with older firmwares.

regards,
Alex

This is the OFFICIAL firmware 2.0.4 thread.  Don't bother with OTA.  Go to page 1 for links.

Passthrough HD audio works perfectly when the supplied wrapper is used from Kodi 17.4.  This effectively uses Kodi as a "front end" and shells to the in-built MediaPlayer (so it all works fine).
If you want Kodi 17 to pass HD audio, there are workarounds (known as "shitty builds" that bring back audio 5.1 from Kodi 16) until the firmware is updated to meet Kodi's revised audio specifications introduced in 17.
I find the wrapper works very well and play a lot of movies with DTS-HD MA and TrueHD 7.1 audio tracks.

Just a bit of a correction: DTS-HD/MA, TRUE-HD/Atmos and DTS-X are HD audio formats, but 5.1 DD (AC3) and DTS are all "Lossy", non HD audio formats. DD and DTS you can get with CFW 2.0.4+KOID 17.x or Official 2.0.4+KODI "Shitty", but still no HD audio. For HD you still must use the Wrapper.

How to go back to Kodi Jarvis?

Can I just simply uninstall the krypton, and then manually install jarvis (.apk)?

Yes, it's as simple as that.

Or install SPMC 16.5 which is Jarvis based and can run at the same time as Kodi 17.4.

I've been monitoring this thread and haven't seen anything on this topic in a while.  Out of curiosity, has anyone found out a solution for those of us that want to use the Media Center app and access network drives?  When I try to connect the app finds the drive and folder, but as soon as I add shortcut and it tries to connect I get the "Network error.  Check Network State" error.  I get the same error when trying to connect manually or using autosearch.  I can access the drive using an external file manager app but I have to use a wireless keyboard to navigate.  Media Center is good if I just want to use a remote.  Thoughts...ideas?  Thanks.

My Media Center app (and therefore Kodi +wrapper) has had no network access issues for all the firmware updates.  I don't use any password on my local Ethernet network.  I assume you have Samba turned on?  Does your Q10 have a fixed IP address (this will often help on windows networks)?

It is likely a network access/password or firewall/anti-virus issue for your own network and is therefore giving you an access error.  Can you see the Q10 from a network PC?

When I have a few minutes I'll play around with it and see.  I don't think SAMBA is turned on and it actually worked under Android 5.X firmware (1.09 was the last I used).  For whatever reason, I can access everything from ES File Explorer...just not the HiMedia Media Center app.

Futeko, please note that the remote Left/Right button is not working that way with 2.0.4 HiMedia Player, as it was on previous firmwares. What I mean: there's no 10 sec  fast forward/rewind skip anymore when "doublepress". Is there any fix for this?! Thank you!
I'm using v2.0.8, this option still not working. Really appreciate if have this "doublepress" function, thanks.
