Thanks pcristi!
Just a warning though.. If you attempt this install and it bricks your box (which it almost certainly will not) the installation will have invalidated your warranty. Proceed at your own risk!

Great news! But...
Will this script work with Zidoo X10?
The problem is that the firmware for my device is missing the file boot.img, so I can't patch it under Magisk to flash it with USB stick.
The reason I want to install Magisk is that Zidoo X10 doesn't have DRM Widevine L1 (or any level at all), so I can't use Netflix and some other IPTV apps with 1080p (and above) encription in it.

The new players do have DRM Widevine L1 but Netflix still working in SD only. So how does root help here?
-
Not help.
DRM Widevine L1 ID of RTD 1619DR Zidoo players is was banned on Netflix and Google servers on began of this year.
Waiting for solution from Zidoo.

Well, maybe it won't help with Netflix, but some other apps are looking at the presense of root, and, as far as I can tell, Zidoo X10 comes with "pre-rooted firmware" or something like that. This fact is considered by some apps as a reason to stop working. So, my goal is to "hide" root with Magisk.
I've already tried many ways to unroot my Zidoo X10 without any success.
My prime question was not about Widevine or Netflix but about the possibility of this script working with my device.

Myzrael,
Magisk Manager are not fully compatible with old Zidoo UI then will need an alternative AppManager (https://www.mediafire.com/?znufybwa5g2tlvo) to launched.
Can give a try of test (https://www.mediafire.com/?dj45nk30i28ip4o) v1.2 version intend to work with all Zidoo (RTD 1295/1296/1619DR).
Zidoo RTD 1295/1296 models can lost adb connection after Magisk activated.
To remove Magisk delete /data/adb folder and optional reinstall same version of OFW from Zidoo UI/About/Update.
-
Thanks a lot!
I've tried to install firmware 1.4.12 (full) + OTA update 2.1.28 (and 2.1.40 separately)
AppManager from your link doesn't want to start during the boot (ZIUI Cool error after intalling the test v1.1 version), so I installed ZIUI-Tile-Launcher-1.2.9, it can change the starting shell from the Settings menu (Device - Home).
Test v1.1 doesn't work (Magisk - Installed - N/A)
Test v1.2 is installed, but writes: "Abnormal State. An "su" command that does not belong to Magisk is detected. Please remove the other unsupported su." Nothing changes with the AppManager launched. But it seems to be working, I'll give it a try for a while)
All versions were installed from the scratch (full flash then OTA).

Aha :) can just rename /system/xbin/su to /system/xbin/zu.
Upload test v1.3 with add of rename for Zidoo su binary(/system/xbin/su) to zu similar as they did on new players.
AppManager is not launcher are simple app drawer use on HiMedia players.

Yep, it's worked. Nothing close to Widevine L3, of course. I thought liboemcrypto repository adds some kind of DRM emulator, but it just lowers L1 to L3, so Netflix shows channels in SD on other devices with L1 license blocked. Unfortunately, not my case(
Waiting for Zidoo response to Widevine broblem (guess forever), or just recent L3 hack implementation (guess sometime) on my, suddenly, "retro" mediabox))
Thanks a lot for the help, not only from me but from all the 4pda.ru (http://4pda.ru) users!

Try to factory reset or recovery install v6.0.22 with install.img update to v6.0.45 or new, then follow instruction to install Magisk.
Minim firmware version for Magisk is v6.0.30.

how do a factory reset or recovery install?
First of all I rely recommended to keep your fingers far from Magisk.
Zidoo Z10 Pro is not ideal box to learn about Magisk and box are easy to brick.
Recover with TTL console(unbrick (http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/recommended-settings-and-other-useful-stuff-for-rtd1619-players-includes-unbrick.82695/page-1)) doesn't look to be job for you.
How to flash Z10 Pro(recovery install) read on Zidoo site (https://www.zidoo.tv/Support/support_article/support_target/knZnnclmVcI%3D.html).
Factory reset search on quick settings then for sure you will discover.
Enjoy your Zidoo Z10 Pro as it is without Magisk.

Just confirming (1) if rooting is really necessary to use XBMC Wrapper (http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/user-tutorial-kodi-with-the-xbmc-wrapper-on-zidoo.44317/), and (2) if the guide in post #1 can still be followed as is? I know there's ZDMC, but it hasn't been updated to Kodi 19.3. Thanks.

XBMC Wrapper, not stable with Magisk - Root Zidoo in media players with SoC RTD 1619DR.

Dears,
i just tried to use Magist to root my UHD3000. Even after entering the IP for several times i get the error message "Cannot connect to 192.168.....:5555 Es konnte keine Verbindung hergestellt werden, da der Zielcomputer die Vrbindung verweigert. (10061).
What am i doing wrong??
And could you pls post a better picture of the menue displayed under "Enable debugging on Zidoo Media players(RTD 1619DR)"? It is impossible to read what section of the menue you refer to.
And one more thing: your instruction sounds a bit unclear to me. Is it required to install any apk on my Zidoo player? Or just run the bat from any PC in the same network like the Zidoo box??
-
Hello Reelyator,
Instruction are intend as it is.
Magisk - Root for Zidoo Media players(RTD 1619DR) is for people which know what is Magisk and why they want take the risk of root.

Thank you pcrist!
Is it required to keep USB Debugging activated after Rooting was done? Or better switch it off again?
-
....i could meamwhile reach the developers options and switch on USB Debugging. Magist now finished and rebooted the UHD3000 but RootChecker still states that "Root is not propperly installed on this device".
...Same result after a second attempt.
What went wron here??
-
....confirmed after several tries: Magist seems not to work on the UHD3000:-(
May i hope for a rooted custom FW for the UHD3000?
-
Is there anybody here who has been able to root his UHD3000 with Magisk??
-
Dears,
any help from user who managed to root their UHD3000 is highly appreciated!
-
.....continuing talking to myself.
Now i tried out Magist v23.0. Same result as with v25.2.
-
Not many UHD3000 owners will have attempted to root their device because rooting brings minimal benefits in normal usage.
Plus, there is a real risk of bricking the UHD3000 by attempting to root it. In which case you'd have a very expensive brick.
We do not advise trying to root any of the Zidoo products and any breakages caused by attempting to root them will invalidate the warranty.
-
Thank you Futeko!
afaik rooting is the only way to make the XBMC Wrapper running on Kodi. This worked perfectly fine for years on my x20. But any other advise, how to acchieve this is welcome!
And to my knowledge, even if everything goes horribly wrong, you can still safe a bricked player by flashing the FW
-
Can't you use ZDMC? It works the same way as XBMC wrapper, in that it enables Zidoo's playback app for Kodi.
-
Can't you use ZDMC? ...
...i am currently thinking about it. Previously i did not like ZDMC because my alltime favourite skin RAPIER was not stable on ZDMC 19.4:-(
Just testing out, if changing to AMBER might be an option. But i found it strange because it seems like i cannot add sources from the 2 internal HD´s of the Zidoo UHD3000, i simply cannot see the internal drives. Not sure if that problem is coming from ZDMC 19.4 or the skin.
-
Can anybody tell me how safe it is to root Z1000 Pro with Magisk Tool ? What I need is access to the Android file system ("data") e.g. to be able to access Kodi installation and the database folder, since I have Kodi running on several machines and need to share the database (on Z10, X9s, 3x FireTV)
-
Well, I tried to root my Z1000 Pro and had no success !
I followed all of the instructions and the Magisk process went thru without any problems. The Z1000 Pro finally rebooted and everything looked fine. But the result did not satisfy... I experienced just the same problems as Reelyator on his UHD3000. XBMCWrapper could be installed but Kodi then could not follow any instructions from playercorefactory.xml .... and was not able to start any of my video files. Then RootChecker stated that "Root is not propperly installed on this device". (USB-Debugging of course was ON)
So it seems that MAGISK (for Zidoo) is NOT able to root any of the RTD1619DR Zidoo boxes ! And it is not compatible with XBMCWrapper as well.
Now I need to get rid of that failed rooting.

@seeseerider(@ccrider on android-mediaplayer.de (https://www.android-mediaplayer.de/forum/index.php?thread/9357-rooten-von-rtd1619dr-boxen-mit-magisk-nicht-m%C3%B6glich/))
Sorry to see as not working for you.
Magisk - Root for Zidoo(RTD1619DR) is provided as it is with no support.
To "get rid of that failed rooting" reinstall from USB original FW the same version running on your player.
For XBMCWrapper contact the author maybe will be a day when will support Zidoo Media players(RTD1619DR) with FW until v6.3.38 and greater that it.
Enjoy the Zidoo player.

For a long time I could not understand why the root was not put on Z9X, until I found one setting in the developer tools. The setting is called "Verify applications during installation" (via adb/adt). It is ON by default. When OFF, the root was immediately received via lan.
