Title: Q5/Q10 Pro Android Remote and Screen Mirroring - HiControl
Post by: futeko.com on May 03, 2016, 02:11:56 PM
HiControl is a remote app for Android phones / tablets.

It mirrors Q5/Q10 Pro HDMI output to a phone/tablet and provides various remote options including touch screen cursor control.

It can be used as a convenient remote for browsing media or a way of using Q5/Q10 Pro without a TV (great for music).

I frequently get black screen with the last version too - always works at first, but if I leave the app (to look at something on the phone for example) then return back to it, I just get a black screen - can still control blind though :)

Will see if this new version fixes that too.

Is works nice util is press home/lock button on HiControl device
(http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/47de/0dpkv0b76d9uh8pzg.jpg?size_id=4)
Now press Home button on HiControl device, after this immediately recent apps to return on  HiControl and black screen
(http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/da8c/la4ixvbd8q2983azg.jpg?size_id=4)

After this only solution to fix is to reboot HiMedia Q10 Pro box, this problems is not present in HiMedia Q10/Q5 4K3D boxes.

HiControl is designed for use on phones/tablets.

I don't know why it isn't working on a PC, but that's not the intended use for the app.

Sure you are using the correct Hicontrol version for Q10 Pro and that the image was downloaded error-free?
Try a new download and re-install as others don't have this problem even with Android 7.0

When you run HiControl does it find the Q5/Q10 Pro?

e.g. this screen?:

If it does find the Q5/Q10 Pro and you tap to connect what happens? Any error messages?

I have seen that one being reported before.

Are you sure you are on exactly the same subnet (device running Hicontrol must have IP 192.168.1.X in your case).
I believe to remember it was that problem. The communication may be doing multicast or something causing this restriction.

Hicontrol has various modes but the main function is cloning video/audio (=effective streaming) combined with full (touchscreen) control of the player remotely. Works truly great for typical smartphone APP's but also the Music player.

"HI-CONTROL".... is for  "control"  ;) not for straeming, for straeming use DLNA.

If anyone else has an Android 7 phone I'd welcome some more testing to see if this is a general Android 7 problem.

It will be passed to HiMedia anyway. If there is a problem with Android 7 and HiControl it will be fixed quickly.

Hi all, just registered.
I recently bought a Q5 Pro and now wanted to test the remote app.
I have Android 7 as well and experience the same problem. The app just stops working and i'm forced to close it.
Tried on a Huawei Nexus 6p btw.
If i can help somehow, i would be happy to try.

New remote app for Android 7: http://www.mediafire.com/file/pdj0dxbdpjf06m9/HandsetForMultiScreen-ANDROID7TEST.apk

Please report back results.

This one seems to work somewhat.
I can launch it and scan for my TV box.
Whenever I want to go into the settings, or start the remote controller, an error message appears.
It says:
Detected problems with app native libraries
(please consult log for detail):
libairmouse_jni.so: text relocations
libmsc.so: text relocations

I can still access the settings and the remote controller though. Only the sensors for the mouse cursor aren't calibrated.
I have to tilt my phone slightly.
Everything else (in the remote controller) works fine :)

Sadly, the mirror controller doesn't work at all. Every time I tap on it, the app crashes.

Unfortunately, current version of HiControl is not working with Google Pixel (android ver. 7.1). The app won't open at all, so I guess it's an Android version issue.

Anyone know when a new version of HiControl is expexted?

Hello! :-)

I just bought the HIMEDIA Q10 PRO on the 04th of December from you and received it on the 12th (last Monday).

Very excited about this box.

However me and my hubby are getting a bit frustrated. He loves to hear to music and one of his ideas when we got this box was to browse through our music folders without turning one the TV.

We've been browsing through the forum but can't really get a solution for our issue.

Right now we have the latest Hicontrol app on our smartphones, connected them to the box (to the AP created on the box) and it appears a black screen with some buttons and I can also access another menu (attached photo).

We need to use the mirror screen so we can access our files but as you can see it isn't working.

MOBILE ANDROID VERSIONS USED :

marshmallow android 6.0.1
lollipop 5.0.1

The Q10 PRO we bought from you is the NOUGAT 7.0.

What can we do for the mirror screen to work on our phone?? Please help!

Thank you so much.

If you use KODI to play your music collection, you can use one of these apps to control it via your phone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.leetzone.android.yatsewidgetfree&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.xbmc.kore&hl=en

You can go to My apps -> KODI, hit "Menu" on the remote on the symbol and chose "Default start" - Next time Q10 Pro boots, it starts KODI immediatly.
Perfect if you want to use it for music playback without having to turn on your tv.

I am surprised Hicontrol doesn't work with your Andorid 5.0.1 and 6 phones. It should. I have an Android 6 phone and use it with an Android 7 Q10 Pro (2.0.0 FW as you have) for playing music exactly as you describe every day.

Quote
connected them to the box (to the AP created on the box)

Not sure what you mean by the above. The correct way to use Hicontrol is for the Q10 Pro to be connected (wifi or ethernet) to the same router as your phone.

When you first run Hicontrol on your phone and it searches for devices what does it say? What's the IP address of Q10 Pro?

What I meant is that in the same router we have created an Access Point in the Q10 and we connect the smartphones to this Access Point. That's it, right?

What appears when I first run Hicintrol on my phones is THE DEVICES LIST and my device TV Box 192.168.1.76.

It is very strange that it connects to the Q10, and we even get sound from it (we tried playing a music file and it plays the sound on the phone, but we still can't get the mirror function.

The resolution changing bug has been fixed in Android 5.1.1 FW 1.0.9 and will be fixed in next (soon) Android 7 FW.

Hi Futeko,

Now we are more and more in 4K TV, and think that you know we can't anymore remote control the Q10 by Tablet, smartphone or others. In 1080p everything is Ok but now if the setting is in 2160P, in order to only have a black screen without visuel to use, do you plan to update also this way instead the new firmware we are waiting for. My Q10 pro is running on Android 5.1 firmware version 1.08 and the hicontrol app has always worked fine before the update.
Now when I open the hicontrol app and tap on my Q10 IP address I get an error and the app is closed.
Is there any fix to the problem?
Thanks

Is there any news?
No remote app is working anymore if Android 7 is on the tablet or smartphone.
This kind of remote was the original reason to buy the box.

Also which remote app is meant to be the latest? And where is the official place to get it.
I've seen it is hard to download them and you never know which version they are...
I found over the last time:
HiControl,
MyBox und
HandsetForMultiScreen

All do crash and I used it on Q10 and Q10 pro either on Android 5 and 7 firmware.

Just for tip: You can try this one too: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cetusplay.remotephone&hl=hu (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cetusplay.remotephone&hl=hu) and see if it works.

You must install the Android TV version to the Box and the plain Android to your phone/tablet.

I tested the software on 2 devices. One samsung galaxy tab s 2 with android 7, not rooted original firmware. Other device samsung galaxy tab s 10.5, rooted with lineageOS android 7.1.2. On both devices I have to click OK on Device Conect screen, but after that I get an error message: Detected problems with app native libraries (please consult log for detail): libmirror50_jni.so:text relocations.
Wish I knew which log to consult, can't find this app in the android\data folder. How can I debug this?
App not working, screen keeps black after clicking the error message away.

HiControl for AndroidN are compatible just with official HiMedia 2.0.3  or newest Android 7 FW, all other older version (including repack CFW 2.0.3) show black screens.

Aha, I will test again after latest firmware update. After the 2.0.3 disaster I rolled back tot 1.0.9. Thought Android n was referred tot the device used to connect (tablet) but it's the q10 reference.

Gosh, all we do here is digging, searching, geeking, installing 3rd party software and user/community made patches, while tinker and experimenting while trying to find the one possible working coincidental solution for basic and expected  features... ;D (Regarding also many other issues and bugs)...

I'm not trying to bring down this method (cause often these are the last straws we can hold on to), nor the users enthusiasm, but normally the solutions and fixes shouldn't be provided and figured out by us, rather than... Hmm... What's the manufacturer company's name once again?! ??? ;D

(Keep up the diggin'!  ;) )

Is that really relevant to this thread?

HiMedia have provided a beta version of their HiControl Android remote control app, compatible with Android 7 phones/tablets.

I don't understand how that is "provided and figured out by us" or is "3rd party software and user/community made" or "trying to find the one possible working coincidental solution"?

Hi
I've installed the 2.0.4 / Android 7 update and everything seems to be working fine.
With the Q10 came a small keyboard/touchpad,bud that works not for an inch !,I tried a cordless mouse but that was no solution,I have a cordless keyboard bud I didn't tried that yet..
The Hicontrol software would that work on an smartphone with Android 4.4.2 ?
And the Hicontrol software goes on the Q10  ( is it showing i'm a newbie :)  ).
Is there other software that has to be installed on the smartphone ?

I don't have an Android 4.4 phone to test, but it should work.

The onyl piece of software that needs installing is HiControl on the phone/tablet. Nothing needs to be installed on Q5/Q10 Pro.

Hello folks,
I can say that the Android 7 hicontrol works although there is still the same error message about the library issue.
Can we expect a release version of hicontrol in the future or will it stay beta?
Thanks,
Martin

Hi, i have installed on my Galaxy Tab S 2017 Hicontrol Android 7. My Himedia Q10 4K 3D has the android-version 4.4.2 (3.0.3v2). Hicontrol recognizes the Himediaplayer and I can also establish a connection. Unfortunately, after a few seconds, the error message "Detected Problems with App native Libraries (please consult log for detail): libmirror 50_ini.so: text relocations" appears. Have no idea what is meant by this. Maybe one of you can help me? Thank you

This version of HiControl is only for Q5/Q10 Pro, not the previous generation 4K3D.

I have tried the HiControl app and I have faced that very annoying issue, that it always brings up (while operating with the pointer) the Android navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. I have tried every gesture i could figure, but was unable to make it disappear. How to can I solve this, with only the HiControl app itself? I now I can remove it with while dragging it with a physical mouse, but that would be really inconvenient, and useless in this case. Is there a gesture for it?

The "make it disable permanently" patch from the FAQ states, that is for fw 2.0.4 only, but i run the 2.0.6 fw version.

So, how can this be solved?

Thank you for the replies!

@Mount81
"make it disable permanently" patch for Android navigation bar can apply to OFW v2.0.4/2.0.5/2.0.6.
Don't forgot to backup sensitive data for case of something go wrong and will need reinstall FW.

About 6 months ago a request was made to move or delete the side menu on the hi-control app which gets in the way of some touch screen actions with Android apps. May I request the same please? Touch screen drag and drop to move it to another edge would be ideal. I am using the Android 7 version on Samsung tab 2 which works fine apart from that annoyance.

Hello, I have a HiMedia Q10 Pro. I have just found out about the HiControl app. Right now I am using a Rii mini i8 which drives me absolutely crazy, especially trying to scroll horizontally which does not work at all. Unfortuantely all of my devices are Apple and as I understand it, the HiControl app does not work with with Mac ios. So, I am looking for a cheap android device to be able to control my box. Can anyone recommend the best and hopefully cheapest android device to use for HiControl? I will only be using it for this one app.
Thank you.

Anyone know any other good remote control app, that also has screen mirroring function from the Box (TV) to the phone/tablet?

I know HiControl does, but it has any annoying permanent button set on the left side of the screen that cannot be removed, and sometimes it overlaps some necessary application buttons and menus.

Have tried CetusPlay, but it does not have screen mirroring function.
