Besides the above reported errors, there are still annoying typos in HiMedia Player. E.g. "exnternal" instead of "external" or "Poliah" instead of "Polish". C'mon, what the heck is "Poliah" ;-)
The way the language strings are integrated into the app makes this harder to change than you think, but I'll push Himedia to sort it for next firmware. 'exnternal' is particularly annoying.

My beta version is from HiMedia today and is the official version from 1.0.7 + multi-language subtitles.
pcristi's unofficial version in this thread is created by him and is the beta himediaplayer (same as 1.0.7 final but with fps display) + his spelling error corrections.

Not sure why not but I've requested it be put back into next version with as much other info as possible (ideally as an overlay by keypress like Kodi). The info is there in the background so it should be made available.

Is the Kodi supplied with custom firmwares are that of HiMedia version of it or the stock Android version from Google Play?
Also, what is the package named HiPQTools under /system/app/? Is it the Imprex Engine file, can I remove it safely from .zip? If so, does it mean there will be no added effects from this Engine, which I prefer. As I prefer to remove all the Gmail, Browser and other such apps not required from the folder to make the system cleaner, before flashing.

The CS firmware looks different to the official firmware (different background, different icons), so if you see no difference then it hasn't installed.Thank you , I will give it a go!
If the update file is named incorrectly or there is a problem with the USB flash drive used for the update then the box will boot to Android logo and do a factory reset. I think this is what has happened in your case.
For CS firmware download the custom firmware (from here: https://www.mediafire.com/?kvlryqpyzcac3), rename the downloaded file to 'update.zip' and copy to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB flash drive.

Check if you try firmware Upgrade from Setting/Upgrade/Local Upgrade/ is show "File not found".
If "File not found" is popup open ES File Explorer and check if file name is not update.zip.zip by mistake and rename to update.zip

Hello, I've just upgraded to the 1.0.7 custom firmware. Everything looks & works great, except on my earlier fw version (1.0.5 I think) there was a navigation bar with some icons at the bottom of the home screen (& others). It's possible I made a change to settings that I've forgotten somewhere, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get this back & am hoping someone has an idea. Thanks.

i noticed that after LP firmware 1.0.8 update ( either from 1.07 or even after downgrading from nougat to 1.0.8 ) that the touch screen front buttons became less responsive, i mean when i try to switch on the box from the touch-sensitive power button on the box , i have to keep on pressing it or even move my finger over it several times to power it on.... and such an issue is with both , official and customed 1.0.8 firmwares.
i didn't experience this with previous firmwares.

The problem you describe 'Q10 has issues with all file types' and 'Movie playback freezes from around 15 seconds to 30 seconds, then resumes' is not other what other users are experiencing.
We've had thousands of FW 2.0.0 downloads and this forum is not full of users reporting such massive problems.
Presuming FW is installed correctly (restore button, two firmwares in order) then your Q10 Pro hardware may be faulty. If you bought it from us please email mail@futeko.com to request RMA.

Everything plays, but after some time, it will freeze....wait....then resume. For some movies, it may do it only a few times through the movie. Other movies do this through most of the moive. When it does freeze, it does this for about 15 to 30 seconds each time.
FW is installed correctly. I did hte paper clip thing .
I did not change the default values for video playback, so what ever the default settings is what I am using.
When not freezing, picture and sound are great.
Last, for resolution, I have the setting at 1080p because most of my content is currently 1080p. I only change it to 2160p when I want to watch a 4k movie. Would be nice if the unit would do this automatically.
Any last ideas before I have to do the RMA stuff?
Freezing like that is not something I've experienced or read about other users experiencing. I suspect it's a hardware problem.
Is the fan operating normally? i.e. spinning? Do you have a HDD installed? What type? Freezing can be a symptom of overheating, but, again, I've heard of zero overheating type problems with Q10 Pro to date (it's a big case, even without fan it should usually be OK).
Where are you playing the files from? Do you get the same problems when playing from a USB flash drive?

After rebooting everything, i played few hevc x265 mkv movies... i notice the picture quality was not right at few scenes (is like u play a scratch CD, can see pixels lagging).

I tried flashing the transparency zip through Android itself and it just wiped out everything. Use only the method described in the OP. I am on Nougat firmware. I remember that I was able to flash a update.zip from within Android on 5.1.1 firmware (Lollipop).

There is no need to be afraid of the custom firmware. It's not radically different from the official firmware, so if you can install that then you can install this.
The launcher used is the official Himedia launcher with new colours, background, and (optionally) icons. I don't know of another similar launcher.

Im using Q5 Pro Custom Firmware android 7.0 (update_Q5Pro_(update&themed)_HMD-2.0.0 2016-11-18.175905). I have some question, please help me:
1. If Naviation bar was disabled, so how can I manage recent apps (By app / remote-- my remote is airmouse KM800) ?
2. I want to use color icon them (not white icon), how to get it back ?

How difficult it is to keep data? Because it is a little difficult to restore like crazy after each update, especially when updating from stock firmware to the same custom firmware version. I volunteer to test it, if needed. Thank you for this latest firmware, I kinda like the transparent launcher that you modify.

I can connect to 5Ghz network on 2.0.1 official no problem. The CS version shouldn't be any different in this regard so I think the problem may be something other than the Q5 Pro.
Try resetting your router and forgetting 5Ghz password on Q5 Pro (Settings - More Wifi - SSID - Forget).

The box keeps flashing red/white and I can see the USB drive is reading or writing because it also has a flashing led.
It's been doing this for the last 2 hours, so it's either a extremley slow USB drive, or something is wrong.

I was having the same problem to. The process did not complete. So I reinstall 2.0.3.

First downgrade to 1.10 (android 5 with downgrade procedure!!!!!), and upgrade to android 7 (with upgrade to android 7 procedure! ver. 2.01) working ok.
I am now happy with pcristi repack 2.0.3..
Tried many version, only 2.01 and 1.09 so far ok, but 2.01 got problem with framerate.
when i play hdr file, with 2.01 it shows 23.9xx fps, with 1.09 and 2.03 repack, it shows 24fps.
however, my eyes cant noticed much the visual different between 23.9xx fps and 24 fps.

Maybe it's an user error. In what way you trying to play the iso-s? KODI+Wrapper? Is the Wrapper set to Wrapper player? Try simply play it from the Media Center, to see if it would work anyway.

Been running the Custom Firmware for several months working well, then suddenly a couple of days ago problems started, decided to reinstall, downloaded latest build, used my normal usb stick, program installed as per instructions but unable to open half the apps including Kodi, although Himedia player started ok but not much else would open. Many of the apps on the initial screen which didn't work had the old green Android symbol showing Whats the best method to take it back to Android 5?
but same usb stick i use to update the box to android 7 it work just fine
I installed Q10 PRO ANDROID 5.1 TO ANDROID 7 MIGRATION FIRMWARE and then HMD-2.0.0. I tested => not network and no Wi-Fi. I installed HMD-2.0.1 => no network and no Wi-Fi. I installed the last custom firmware HMD-2.0.3 and the result is the same as the previous, no network and no Wi-Fi. The hardware should be the same for all the Q10 pro so, I do not understand why for me I have this problem and for other devices not this kind of problem.
Consequently I downgraded my Q10 pro and I reinstalled HMD-1.0.9 the network and Wi-Fi work correctly then I installed the last CF in android 5.1 =>HMD-1.1.0 everything ok
So I would to now, why with my Q10 pro it is impossible to upgrade in HMD-2.X.X and android 7?

You should upgrade to 2.0.3 first, then to 2.0.4. I did it like this several times in the last days and I did not have any issues.

These firmwares have a notable new feature, 5.1 AUDIO PASSTHROUGH IN ANY VERSION OF KODI / SPMC 17+ (not 7.1 HD-Audio).

Latest custom firmware is working perfectly. Netflix, HBO Go and everyting else is working as it should. I do not have enough thanks to give to @pcristi.

So download restore(old_player)_HiMediaVideoPlayer_1.0.11_HMD_0411(AirMouse_inputs_support).zip, rename to update.zip copy to USB stick.
Apply from Setting/Upgrade/Local Upgrade/USB_x to get old player HiMediaVideoPlayer_1.0.11_HMD_0411 from CFW 2.0.3.
In case want new HiMediaVideoPlayer(VideoPlayer VideoPlay) again use this update.zip with restore method(paper clip).

Iasked the same question. I was told it is ok to install over 2:04 official. I love it, especially how you can customise the large icons to what you want to show on the home screeb.

My compliments for your great products and very informative site. I try to install the new FW 2.0.4 Himedia Q10 Pro which I have purchased in February in the Netherlands at the "Media Markt". I have tried already for days to extract with WinZip, and WinRAR, without any luck the downloaded files 2.0.1, 2.0.3, and 2.0.4. I was on FW 2.0.3 and rolled back to FW 2.0.1. because of some issues. However, I do want to upgrade to FW 2.0.4. My request is would you be so kind to help me with the extracted files for my media player? I do understand to install FW 2.0.3. first, and after install FW 2.0.4. I would be very grateful if someone could help me to attach the extracted FW and send it to my e-mail (instrhenny@gmail.com).

Thanks for the responses. I did get the HiMedia Q10 Pro back to FW version 2.0.3. Don't ask me how I did it, but now I am as far as 4 days ago. After several attempts yesterday evening to update it to FW 2.0.4 I quit. Whatever file I download (Pcristi, Futeko) it refuses to update my Media player. I have used 3 flash drives from 8, 16, and 32 GB after a clean format, but it doesn't update, and if I get into the menu from my player it recognizes the flash drives but not the update! This morning I have tried again, but unfortunately............
I would be very happy with any suggestions on this forum, and I do hope to find a solution. Best regards to everyone from Dutchie.
I downloaded straight from "Pcristi and the Futeko" site, and for the Futeko FW is have used "WinZip and WinRAR" to extract which didn't work most of the time. Yesterday I was lucky and I did extract one file, but the media player mentioned according the menu "No Upgrade File". Of course I did use the pin in de reset button etc etc. Everything according and conform the installation manual from Futeko.

I uninstalled the kodi app and installed the Kodi shitty build app.
Himedia settings :
hdmi output RAW
spdif output RAW
HBR output RAW
KOdi settings
number of channels :2.0 ( tried various configurations )
output configuration: optimized
volume control : 90
maintain Original volume on downmix : activated
resample quality : Medium
Keep audio device alive 1 min
send low volume noise : activated
Allow passthrough : activated
all passthrough settings Dolby digital and so on : activated
Tried both settings : set to kodi player and set to wrapper player.
And still.......no multichannel.
If i play from usb using himedia player .... crispy multichannel sound
So.......im going slightly insane :-X lol.
Any final thoughts other than a big sledgehammer? Im of to bed.........

Is this new version also with downgraded HiMedia Player (from fw 2.0.3)?! And why did you downgraded it at first place? Because the lack of airmouse support, or something more serious?
As far as I know the HiMedia Player in 2.0.3 still had the HDR aspect ratio bug, or did you managed to fix with it somehow?

I did try a lot of stuff, formatting to GPT/NTFS which should work typically, MBR/NTFS by using minitool (because windows won't allow 4tb partition using MBR), formatting to EXT4 using minitool, delete volume and setup using Q10 Pro (android) storage setting itself, attach using my Seagate GoFlex adapter then format using laptop, clean the drive using diskpart and re-initialize, and probably others.
One thing works, which was formatting the drive to fat32. Here the Q10Pro sees the HDD as corrupted usb storage. I then use the storage setup in setting and all 4TB is visible in media center. However being fat32, it limits the file size to 4GB which is not ideal at all.
One thing I have yet to try is to connect to PC SATA port and format from there.

The update process depends on the firmware you currently have installed.

Vanilla just means standard regular Kodi, as available in Play Store or from Kodi site.
Yes custom firmware has 5.1 audio passthrough in Kodi native player.

I guess as long as it installs the playercorefactory.xml file in the same path as the preinstalled KODI. As far as I know all that the Wrapper does is that it modifies the playercorefactory.xml file to call the external HiMediaPlayer. Or correct me if I'm wrong.

If you upgraded to official 2.0.4 by going through 2.0.3, yes, you can flash CFW (pcristi's firmware).
I have alot of experience with different brands and mediaboxes and the Q10 has potential, but with lacking features like custom screen size, zoom, custom aspect ratio and a better thought out remote control there are better alternitives to Q10 and Q5. sure they are abit slower but have more features and a way better gui!

Sure as a default template, but give us the option to edit as people would like.
I have two plus signs including my apps that do exactly the same thing.
And get rid of facebook, skype and chrome. those that want these features should let them add them as options.

If you have 2.0.4 installed (either official or custom) then yes you can reflash other 2.0.4. No need to downgrade. Use the restore button method.

Yes just recheck few minutes a go, check filename with any Android Explorer a common problems is file is rename under Windows to update.zip.zip inside of update.zip.

Make dirty install with newest version from mediafire and set android daydream OFF like that will run like OFW auto power Off after 24 hours.
I'm running cfw 2.0.4 now. Is it possible to do a rolling upgrade to cfw 2.0.5. so I don't have to config all from scratch.

1. Which backup app/program should I use to backup the existing firmware and configuration?
2. After applying the custom firmware, if I run into any issues can I go back to the previous official version? How?

You need to upgrade sequentially, I have done this since 2.0.4 without pressing the reset button, doing what is called a dirty flash. You can update from within the TV box, I have done it after I flashed custom 2.0.4. When pcristi will have the custom 2.0.6 , I will do the same.
Edit: we have a patch to 2.0.6 https://forum.softpedia.com/topic/1056055-himedia-q5q10pro-android-511android-70-box-tv/page__st__774#entry21904623. It is not the full CFW, as pcristi informed me. We should get all the new features with this new patch.

I skipped installing official 2.0.6 firmware, I just installed CFW patch to 2.0.6 on CFW 2.0.5. I do not have any BluRay discs, so I cannot test the BDFull menu apk.

I didn't even notice any differences with 2.06, but what samba issues are you having? I had issues initially and it was because under my network settings, i left the dns server 2 blank. I couldn't see the hard drive from other computers on my network. i used 192.168.1.2 for the DNS and it solved it. (my router is 192.168.1.1)

I have a new question: I guess i will have to uninstall and than reinstall KODI 17.6 (cause the scrapping somehow doesn't work as it should), will the DD and DTS in KODI still be working in this case? (As it has been fixed in this CFW).

So I have tested a bit more with the conditions and modifications above. And it sure does switch on the Daydream screensaver during video playback. It was the same with KODI+Wrapper and with HiMedia Player on it's own, I paused the video and after about 5 minutes the Daydream switched on automatically. When I tried to resume the video, there was nothing but black screen with the HiPlayer control menu and It didn't reacted to any button when tried to resume the video. My only option was is quitting with the Back button to KODI. So it is definitely something messed up, and not working as it intended.

Posts 563 and 587 of this topic give two ways as to how you can disable the screen saver. Its really is just a matter of going into the 500 Firepaper App and adjusting settings there.

Another issue to report: If I start a video with KODI+Wrapper right after the Box freshly Booted up, after like 3-5 minutes of playback, the screen goes totally black and the sound mutes. Just like in the case, when resuming from the screensaver: I can only see the HiPlayer interface, but it doesn't react to resuming the video, only quitting with the back button helps. I must wait like min. 10 minutes after the boot-up to avoid this freaky issue.

The reinstallation of KODI might have be the case, that messed up something in the CFW system, but it just shouldn't, as I haven't done anything unusual.
Tomorrow I will flash the OFW 2.0.6, (and begin my KODI reinstallation again).

Edit: On an other forum a member also has complained regarding this.
It seams that the system needs much more time to "boot-in" with CFW than with the OFW, and sadly that's a no-go for me. :(

To update from Android 5.1 firmware 1.0.7 or later you first update to Android 7 firmware 2.0.4 official and then to any later firmware (at time of writing - i.e. up to 2.0.5 or 2.0.6 official or custom). You need only two steps.I connected HiMedia and the PC containing the multimedia files on the network, and both have the value of I.P. fixed.
The long update process you list is unnecessary and will make no difference to the problem you describe in the linked post.
Your network access problem is an incompatibility between Android 7 media center on Q10 Pro and your NAS. We've been through this in email, but the solution is going to be a fixed IP address for the NAS and entering share details manually in Q10 Pro media center. Or a change somwhere in your NAS settings, of which I am not familiar.
@DMD: I have movies named with spaces and without spaces and I am on CFW 2.0.6. What I think it may cause issues is that you have named the movies in Italian and sometimes in Italian and English. It is better to name them in English. Actually there is a Kodi naming suggestion here http://kodi.wiki/view/Naming_video_files/Movies. You can configure Kodi to show the information in Italian, I think.The problem is not in the subfolders of films that can be written with or without spaces or as you want, but it is in the main folder of the HDD, this is to be written without spaces.
I see another issue. Movies like Alien should be named Alien.1979, without 1 or any other number that does not quite have anything to do with it. Just like Star
Wars 1 1977 would most likely not be recognized as Star Wars Episode IV - A New Hope from 1977.
It may matter if the scrapper is not configured properly to think that the movies are in "Movies are in separate folders that match the movie title" (also taken from the Kodi naming scheme). It may be related to Kodi 17 rather than to the actual Nougat firmware. I do not know what Kodi version you had on the 1.0.x firmware (most likely Kodi 16.x).

today I dirty flashed back to CFW2.0.6.
The reason is a VERY ANNOYING BUG in subtitles of 2.0.7 - sometimes WHOLE LINES of subtitles were not shown, even if pauses were fixed with subtitle workshop. It was a definite, real, repetitive flaw which I could repeat MANY times, and which DISSAPEARED once I came back to 2.0.6.
Verified and re-verified.

Later Edit: I am not certain but starting with CFW2.0.7 I suddenly started to encounter repeated, relatively frequent (several times every movie or TV series) interruptions of playback, with blackscreen and video signal cutback, the 4k HDR Panasonic Smart Tv recovering signal and resuming playback after a few seconds. After rewinding back a few moments and resuming playback to go through the problem-moment again, the same blackscreen did not occur anymore, not even one time, so I presume that the phenomenon is generated by Q10Pro/Firmware, not by video file. Just for you all to know, maybe someone can put 2 and 2 together.
I only play video files stored internally on a relatively new, error free and well-maintained HDD. Only alterations to firmware are by patching for More framerate, ROOT and SAMBA. IMPREX always OFF.
I will come back with impressions if going back to CFW2.0.6 is bringing back any improvement.
Reporting back after downgrading to 2.0.6 because of the subtitles skip bug and video signal cutbacks. These video interruptions still happened yesterday, but only once, after two full watching days. So the phenomenon is still present in 2.0.6 but ALOT less frequent.
Maybe some one more knowledgeable or HIMEDIA should look into it, could be a really deal breaker.
I was reporting back not because I thought that the issue was not (or not enough) discussed here.
But simply because I downgraded to CFW2.0.6 from 2.0.7 which was absolutely unbearable.
My message was that CFW2.0.6 is, too, bugged the same with interruptions.

Hi everyone. This is my first time here.
I have a new Q5 pro using a firmware that has no reference anywhere.
Out of the box it cames with: HDM-1.1.0 2017-04-08.224716 / Android 5.1.1 /Kernel 3.18.24
The box seams to run everything fine but I cant upgrade the software. I've tried all the normal procedures using the official software from Himedia website to upgrade from Android L to N.
But everytime it shows an error after the update bar barely starts.
The box is in English and no chinese words appears when i start the box. So I assume it's not the chinese versions.
Can anyone help me or just point what firmware version should I use to upgrade?
And last question. To upgrade to the custom firmware, i must upgrade the original right?

What is the matter with the playback of external subtitles in this version? In the official firmware version 2.07, Media Player loses subtitle lines. This subtitle issue is driving me nuts.
I have read that FAQ more than once, I even printed it out.

GUISo defaults icons can't be removed just possible to be replaced with what you need.
* How to change home screen apps? Navigate to the tile you want to replace on home screen and press menu button on remote. Select an app from the app list and it will replace the selected tile.
Hoe do you remove those larger boxes even after the application was removed.
Specifically Facebook & Spyke. I un-installed these, but they still show and they still run. You can add off of the applications list, but there isn't a obvious way to remove them, except for ones you add with a checkmark.

I was formerly on Custom 2.06 which I found excellent, last night I updated to custom 2.08 all went well after I renamed file update and not update.zip as stated, why put zip in your instructions when it is not needed its only confusing. On 2.08 I found the bluray menus main and light the other way round to 2.06 which caught me out initially but fine now. I also found the PQ part of the menu when playing a movie acting differently than I can remember. When adjusting the sub menus there is no change to the picture until you restart the movie not as good as before as changing the sub menus before you could see instant changes in the picture like changing from natural to colourful etc.Kodi didn't seem as good as in picture quality as the inbuilt media player. Exactly. It's an example of Windows confusing things by trying to make them simpler.

I can't reproduce this try clear data on System UI apps, maybe doe't rely like dirty update for v2.0.4..v2.0.7.
I did a dirty update last night from 2.0.7, and am only having an issue with sound/volumes crashing. storage options work fine. I cleared cache of System UI, but still crashes on sound/volumes.

I upgraded from 2.0.6 to 2.0.8 yesterday.
The hyper links are reversed for firmware 2.08 The link under Q10 Pro downloads a file with Q5 in the file name and the file under Q5 shows as Q10 Pro when downloading.

I can't agree with the "much better quality playback" statement. With my TV (only 1080p no hdr) I don't see any difference between himedia player and kodi internal player with the second one being much superior with subtitles handling.
What are the differences between the custom firmware (2.0.9 for this instance purpose), and the official one?
I am asking also because I found bugs and issues within the official 2.0.9 firmware (such as occasional crashes of the launcher, video pauses, and bluetooth speaker not receiving audio after being paired) and would like to know if switching to the custom firmware (or downgrading to Android 5.1.1) will help resolve those.

How about the internal musicplayer form Kodi?
According to the Estuary Mod it shows DTS-MA when an audiofile is DTS-MA encoded, even if core 24/96 DTS is not encoded.
My receiver is capable of playing DTS-MA but doesn't display the difference (with core 24/96 it does).

I've tried to update from ANDROID 7 HMD-2.0.7 to the latest 2.1.0 CFW via rear pin push as well as flashing with the recovery files on usb to the following firmware with no luck at all. Android logo comes up and then I get the red exclamation mark.

You can install custom over official and vice versa and can install the 2.1 over 2.0.6.
Now wait and hope to the pcristi custom firmware for the new 2.1.1 version ;)
A quick question.
* Is it expected that Kodi don`t need wrapper to bitstream audio and Atmos and will HDR>SDR convertion still work when trying this mod ?
Downloaded the new firmware and installed using the reset button. Installed ok but wrapper doesn't seem to work. Just comes up with "VideoPlayer" at the top of the screen. However kodi is now playing 4k movies from a NAS drive that it was having difficulty with before. The frequency switcher is working. I assume it still won't pass Atmos soundtracks? I haven't tested that yet. I'll still need the MediaCenter player for that?
If you can get Atmos soundtracks playing from within kodi I might just buy another Q10. Thanks for the update. Have a happy new year.

For me Kodi + Wrapper + NFS working without problems.
If for you don't want to work and use CFW/ATV try a very old trick:
- open MovieBar
- add all yours NFS path for library intend to be use it on Kodi + Wrapper
- reboot box
- open Kodi
- add library path from Video/Files/Root filesystem/mnt/nfsShare/nfs_shareX
Like that Wrapper will see as local and probably work for you too.

I see this problem with official Kodi 18.0RC4 as workaround is to disable Blu-ray menu on HiMediaVideoPlayer or give a try to other Kodi 18 build.

Check if the following line is not missing from KODI's playercorefactory.xml file under the <!--network protocol rules--> section:
<rule protocols="nfs|smb" player="Wrapper" /> <!--all nfs|smb-->
If so you may need to reactivate the Wrapper, or insert this line manually. Se the FAQ how.
(Happens after you update/reinstall KODI).

With the Corsair 128gb USB 3 stick plugged into the USB 3 port, I am unable to connect to wifi. If I switch to another port I can connect.While typing this reply, my box connected to the WiFi (network time on display) but no apps could access the internet. Settings option (with the ethernet and WiFi icons) reported a connection to the WiFi but the other network settings page said no connection so I went through the process and it did connect. Unfortunately now, trying to power off the machine is stuck at shutting down.......
However, any attempt to format result in corruption. With the micro sdhc card, I am trying to use the option to set it as internal storage. This fails.
With either USB or SD card, once corrupted, I cannot restore any functionality.

First of all I'm a newbie - 3rd day using Q10pro.
Original firmware was 2.1.1 Kodi v7.0 - cannot add media through SMB or NFS from my Synology, Kodi worked.
Decided to install newest custom firmware. Firmware installed fine but cannot add media sources through internal media player or even Kodi (8.0) from Synology. Tried ES Explorer preinstalled with new firmware - all working good, I can play movies from any location Synology, my PC, external HDD.
What is wrong with Kodi or internal player?
Somebody? Please help.

Adding sources working well in Kodi and media player. Problem was in Synology share settings.
I had to disble wrapper because using wrapper I saw "Video player" text at black screen and nohing happened.
One more thing, after a few seconds I turn the device on I can see a message "Plex stopped working".

Hello, I have some problems with HD audio with Kodi 18 streams. Dolby Digital and DTS are working fine, but I get no sound with Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby TrueHD?
My AV receiver can handle this kind of HD audio.

Is there a way to turn off subtitles by default? Or is there a fix to the crash. I cannot change audio tracks or turn subtitles off without a crash.

1 Usually happens when add Google account and fix if box is rebooted.
2 Unlucky Kodi 18.0 RC4 is was wrong choose to be CFW, can be replace with other Kodi 18.0 builds as Beta4, RC3(2018/12/09) or "shitty" build(2018/12/22) witch is was report by users here to be more stable.

You should have version 2.0.4 or higher to install the latest firmware. If you don't install 2.0.4 first

Scroll across to "More" and click on this.
Using your cursor, click on the search (magnifying glass) in the top right.
Now type "accessibility".

Uninstall current KODI and install 17.6 (http://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/android/arm/) and turn off PlayStore updates for KODI. 18.x is still unstable on Android with external players.

If it's streaming it doesn't. You'll probably get better support in a kodi forum.

Install a later firmware. What is the reason for running an Android 5.1 firmware that is 2 years old?
Some phones have an IR filter so that this test couldn't work.

@afss: right, I may be a fool watching 3D movies on my Q10 pro all these years. You can have options render subtitles in 3D, but this is only working with the wrapper/Himedia player only.

3D has never worked properly on the Himedia Q5/Q10 PRO products, specially if you need subtitles - I have flagged this before to Himedia and apparently there is no solution for it - I have since moved to the Zidoo Z9S (still have both boxes), which plays 3D subtitles perfectly.
This Kodi crashing happened to me several times, because I restored a previous Kodi 17.6 backup, in order to save time while reinstalling all addons.
I uninstalled Kodi completely, and I reinstalled from this forum Kodi 18.3, and is working perfectly, but I had to reinstall addons and settings manually.

Hi im running2.0.9 2018-07-10.preesently. i have manually been using an Apk to load kodi as 17.6 due to the nemerous crashes that i was experiencing with leia 18.1 and 2. Are you suggesting that the crashing problems appear to be fixed with kodi 18.3 which I wasnt until now aware until now had been released ;)

Install with paper clip and never open HiMedia Settings/Network, use inside of that HiMedia Settings/More/Ethernet(WiFi) then WiFi will be keep OFF.
In unlucky case when user touch HiMedia Settings/Network WiFi will be always trigger ON.

Not sure if this was addressed prior but my search came up empty.
I just installed the most recent custom firmware and so far it is great but I noticed that when i opened KODI that a lot of the options on the left menu are gone. Like the Music section, TV shows, Movies, etc. All that is there now is Add-ons, Pictures, Videos, Weather. 4 options. My previous one had 13. Is there a way to add some or all of these back?

I believe I have a cfw 2.0.9 as illustrated in the picture. Forgive my ignorance, I've always updated by pressing the reset button in the back on boot. Is that considered dirty? Or is it updating from the menus considered dirty. If o want to install this latest cfw what's the better option. I have had bricking issues in the past and would like to avoid them. I dont mind a wipe of the system as there's not much on here presently.

The method is slightly different to our official firmware downloads. For these firmwares, you must rename the downloaded zip file to update.zip.
FIRMWARE INSTALL CAN TAKE UP TO 20 MINUTES. DO NOT POWER OFF DURING INSTALL. WAIT FOR THE HOME SCREEN TO APPEAR.

5. While keeping the RESTORE/UPGRADE button pressed, turn on the Q10/Q5Pro.
6. The Q10/Q5Pro will show an Android logo and proceed to upgrade the firmware.
7. The box will auto-reboot when finished.
8. First boot can take 4-5 minutes.
9. Wait 15 minutes after first boot to allow system and apps to initialise.

Yes, I do have the same problem with various apps and Kodi 18.4. It's very annoying. Also there was a time that I could scroll with the HiMedia Q10 Pro remote upwards or downwards in an app, and that suddenly doesn't work anymore too. However the HiMedia Q10 Pro becomes sluggish or slow with 2 GB Ram. It's already a model from 3.5 years nowadays. I try to find something else with a newer CPU/GPU and 4 - 8 GB Ram.
This is still a crap!
I was able to dwongrade from official 2.1.4 to 2.0.3 and 2.0.4 and still either I change the name to update.zip or not, it is still not recognized as an upgrade and does not start!

Think this maybe for pcristi albeit others may know as many use the custom versions so perhaps have had same dilemma. I noticed when downloading the 2.14 option that the kodi version is 18.2. On pcristi mediafire there is a kodi folder listing newer versions of Leia builds being shitty armeabi to 18.5 and /Leia armeabi to 18.6. Can someone explain the difference between them , not the version and which one do I download and install so as I have the kodi skin which pcristi normally inserts with the custom versions.

That’s a week of 2.14 enough. It’s rebooting so much the clobbers will be out of a job. Going back to 2.09 and 17.6 and looking forward to watching something in full without interruption. Thanks to all. Appreciate it’s the hardware at fault.

Regret to report that downloaded to 2.09 and still rebooting like mad. So definitely hardware problem I think. Anybody got any ideas. Every time I use the remote to switch function it seems to reboot. Kodi is closing every time you leave it, help. Would installing all the software versions individually in sequence help? Thanks

In case this helps, make sure the pendrive you are using is formatted to FAT32. This process will NOT work if the pendrive is formatted to EXFAT....and formatting to FAT32 in the later versions of Windows is a problem as they have deleted the ability. There is a freeware utility on the 'net called GUIFormat (https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/FAT32format-GUI.shtml) that works very well to get around this limitation.

Nothing seems to work and I do have a friendly request for anyone who can help me on a CORRECT ZIPPED FILE! I know it sounds ridiculous, but a couple of years ago somewhere in 2018 I bumped into the same problems.
Someone from the Netherlands (I think it was Julian and someone else) did sent me with a "file transfer app" a FW update and it worked instantly on my HM Q10!
It should be EXTRACTED by WinZip or WinRar or whatever. For some reason I can't non of the files extract correctly! So there is something wrong with te downloaded files. I know there are many forum members out there (and I am one of them) to explain that "rename" the unextracted file into "update zip", but it doesn't work in this case. It should save a lot of time than go to all suggestions and comments again, I'm 100% sure.
So, please, please anyone? ? ?

It was a problem with the configuration from Windows 10 as "stl" mentioned. every time when I opened the downloaded file I didn't noticed the wrong text "update.zip.zip". However I always have "View hidden items on, but I haven't noticed the wrong text.
I did update to CFW 2.1.7 which is nice, but how do I install all the other apps like YouTube smart tv, Aptoide etc. etc.? I'm a little confused now after my 2 days experience. What is the latest and best CFW until today? I have seen 2.1.6 updated and corrected by Pcristi, but I'm not sure.

Updated to official 2.1.6 and then flashed to custom 2.1.7 - both with paperclip:
1. Google play store was unstable and crashed a couple of times before finishing updates.
2. System went into a weird sleep mode (VFD on in white, but time is gone, and no picture) - and could not be awoken back. Only solution was to take power cord out, and reconnect and turn on. Happened after some time that it was left on (copying files). Happened at least twice.
Will update with any further conclusions/bugs as they come.

Hello, not sure what happened, but somehow the video player no longer works. I am on the custom 2.1.7 and it was working fine until yesterday. I get an error every time i try to play a file (does not matter which one, tried dozens and none worked that did work the day prior) from either the media center or within Kodi using the wrapper.
The Kodi player does play the same file.
Can someone post an apk of the video player so i can reinstall it? I would rather not reinstall the firmware and re-setup all my settings in Kodi and the Q10 if I don't have to. That took me hours.

However, first check that the wrapper is configured correctly in terms of SMB access (user/pass) in your system. it zeroes out when you flash with a paper clip.
Also, if you want to retain all of your kodi settings and database, don't use the backup addon. Simply copy the entire hidden ".kodi" folder over to a backup location, and overwrite back with it after you flash.

I have one question, I was previously on 2.1.1 and there was an option on advanced settings that allowed the Q10 to automatically be shutdown after some time the TV was powered off, it was called HDMI Suspend Time (5 minutes, etc).
On 2.1.7 it seems there is a similar option, HDMI CEC, but it works on the other way. It power on and off the TV when the Q10 is power on or off.
Anyone knows if there is someway to have the previous option back, or maybe is hidden somewhere else? I prefer the previous option as I don't always want to shutdown the TV when i power off the Q10. But I do want to shutdown the Q10 when I power off the TV, that was basically was the thing that the old option allowed.

OK, a few days now on CFW 2.1.7, with framerate and samba patches...I had the same problem with HDMI Handshake issues as well, I fixed it by setting framerate switch adaptation OFF in "settings"
It seems it is less enjoyable, since many interrupts during movies (with wrapper) for handshakes on image, it can happen every 2 minutes or so... which is UNACCEPTABLE...
I setup framerate switch adaptation OFF in both settings of player and PQ in wrapper, maybe this is the cause.
I uninstalled framerate switch patch, also.
Will post results. If not working, back to 2.1.4 with new mediaplayer app...
What could be causing this, is in many films, series, more or less...

As I remember on HiMediaVideoPlayer_1.2.60_HMD_1110 PGS subtitles setting are save it but top subtitle position error for PGS subtitle are present. HiMediaVideoPlayer_1.2.53_HMD_0226 is test build for check if global saving settings are solved not included on full FW.
Yes can install 1.2.53_HMD_0226 on OFW v2.1.7 for Q5Pro/Q10Pro/Q30/Q100.

I put the USB stick in the USB blue port.
Hold the button down with a pepper clip, plug it in and then count to 15 sec with the pepper clip holding the button. button released after 15 sec when a circle was already on TV.
End of story, the Q10 cleared all my extra apps from the device and I still see the old screen and data as I described in my previous post above.
Could someone tell me where this is going wrong?
Am I not doing the actions right?
Can I do an update with this file:
update_Q10Pro(CFW-Lite[MStyle])[1.1]-HMD-2.1.7 2020-12-03.153450

Installation Instructions
The method is slightly different to our official firmware downloads. For these firmwares, you must rename the downloaded zip file to update.zip.
FIRMWARE INSTALL CAN TAKE UP TO 20 MINUTES. DO NOT POWER OFF DURING INSTALL. WAIT FOR THE HOME SCREEN TO APPEAR.
1. Rename firmware update .zip (e.g. update_Q(...)Pro_(...)_HMD-1.0.8(...).zip) to update.zip.
2. Copy update.zip to the root of a USB pen drive.
3. Insert the USB pen drive into any USB port of the Q10/Q5Pro.
4. With the Q10/Q5Pro turned off, use a paper clip or pen to press and hold the the pinhole restore button on the back side of the Q10/Q5Pro.
5. While keeping the RESTORE/UPGRADE button pressed, turn on the Q10/Q5Pro.
6. The Q10/Q5Pro will show an Android logo and proceed to upgrade the firmware.
7. The box will auto-reboot when finished.
8. First boot can take 4-5 minutes.
9. Wait 15 minutes after first boot to allow system and apps to initialise.

I have the Q10 Pro with :
Version : 7.0
Android Security Patch Level : Jan 1, 2017
Kernel : 3.18.24_hi3798cv2x
Buld: HMD-2.1.7 2020-08-18.140128
I can't make Samba work.
When I scan the network, I can see the server but when I select the server, then nothing. It doesn't ask to connect to. empty screen.
When I try to Manualy connect the share, it act the same.
It's not a password issue as I can connect to it with my computers and my Nvidia Shield.

I have this little problem. So, after installing the latest version 2.1.7 I turn on my player and kodi everything is working perfectly but when it should actually open the movie for me to watch it, from the server NAS, it doesnt work (becuase of kodi).
I ask for advice or help.
