In common with almost all Q10 Pro users, I don't have RCA audio outputs set up for regular Q10 Pro use. The 'RCA audio output lip-sync' bug has only ever been reported by you. You are the person with most knowledge of how it manifests itself. I kindly request that you test the new firmware to see if it is resolved.

nfs mount bug (new to this firmware)
I had an nfs mount directory on my computer it was always mounted on the Q10 and now when I go to the mount it cannot show it....

I know what the problem is = I have a space character in the path of the mounted directory (always had it no change there), the Q10 now shows up to the space so
my mounted directory is  "/Volumes/Data HDD/Users/guyr/Downloads" (note the space between "data" and "HDD"
the Q10 shows "Volumes/Data" (until the space) and therefor cannot mount it....

help will be appreciated (I cannot easily change the name as it's a hard rive)

no need to reset everything you can also update by choose------ local update------ choose there your sd card or usb stick and update the firmware
but a  total reset schould be the best

Hi futeko, sorry to bother.

Can you confirm if any of these bugs are solved in the new version? Or any chance you report them to Himedia if not? I think i have this issues with Q10 when using the HiMediaVideoPlayer Wrapper, since i bought the box.

1) Downloading subtitles with the Wrapper doesn't consider kodi addons or subtitle configuration in Kodi, so is very difficult to find proper subtitles for movies, as it list a lot of languages i don't need (my main language is Spanish).

2) Subtitle time adjust delay function is too short, only allows "+/-" 10 seconds, it would be useful to allow more (like default Kodi player). Sometimes i have not very known movies that doesn't have a lot of subtitles, so i can't use the wrapper, i have to turn to the default player.

3) Wrapper fails to play movies when the file name of the movie has symbols like number sign (#) or ampersand (&). It shows the error "Video Problem". This is specially a problem with TV series.

Thanks in advance

3. Got rid of 4096*2160 resolution.
How about bright flashes that appear during playback?
To me, the only way to get rid of it is by switching the resolution to 4096*2160.
(Turning off Dynamic Contrast doesn't fix it at all)

=========================================================================================
Damn it. I updated it, and the annoying bright flashes still there :'(
Now that the 4096*2160 resolution is ridden, there's nothing left I can do to make it disappear.

How to return the update to the exact previous version (2.0.6)?
Do I have to reset factory and start from the beginning?

Hello,
this is not entirely true.
I also concur with Mount81. lip-sync through RCA is a big problem for the ones who send their sound in audio lines through RCA...

It still needs the Blu-Ray patch. The changelog I was given yesterday has since been revised (item 1) to remove the claim that BD menus is included.

It doesn't need the auto framerate patch, the official firmware never has. However, if you want the additional auto-switching offered by the patch you can choose to install it. http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1043.0

The Full BD Menu patch did need the framerate patch in previous firmwares, as it did not switch to the correct 23.976Hz if a BD is started from the Full Menu and the output remained 60Hz all the time. Did it change in the 2.0.7 fw? If not it would still need the addition of the fps patch as well (or the total preterition of the Full menu patch, which I would more likely to prefer over the inherent use of the "home-made" fps switching patch) just like before.

No just follow the instructions below from HiMedia's site using method 2...if you run into problems use method 1 but method 2 worked for me. Remember to make sure the USB thumb drive is formatted as FAT32 and the filename is update.zip in the root of the drive with nothing else on that USB drive

METHOD 1
Firmware Upgrade by Recovery Mode (user data will be cleared)

1.Download a new firmware and place the firmware onto the ROOT directory of a USB drive.

2. Plug the USB drive into an empty USB HOST on the SMART TV BOX.

3.With the SMART TV BOX turned off,use a paper clip or pen point to press and hold the small pinhole restore button on the SMART TV BOX

4.While pressing the restore button, turn on the SMART TV BOX. Continue to hold the restore button for 5 more seconds, then release it.

5.The SMART TV BOX will begin upgrading the firmware from the USB drive.

6. Wait for the SMART TV BOX to complete the upgrade. Please be patient as it may take around 5 minutes to complete.

7. When finished, The SMART TV BOX will auto reboot.

METHOD 2
Firmware upgrade from Settings Menu (user data will not be cleared)

1.Download a new firmware and place the firmware onto the ROOT directory of a USB drive.

2.Plug the USB drive into an empty USB HOST on the SMART TV BOX.

3.Go to Settings?System?System upgrade to select/click the letter of the USB drive.

4.The SMART TV BOX will begin upgrading the firmware from the USB drive.

5. Wait for the SMART TV BOX to complete the upgrade. Please be patient as it may take around 5 minutes to complete.

6. When finished, The SMART TV BOX will auto reboot.

It has nothing to do with Himedia, it is Kodi policy .
2.07 is Android 7 , API level 24
audiopassthrough for this API level :
 AC3, EAC3, DTS
Kodi team  miss hardware / software to implement dts-hd, truehd
Kodi team only implemented DTS -hd, TrueHd for Nvidia Shield only , along with Amologic devices .

In order to implement HD audio Himedia has to CONTACT KODI TEAM and provide them with information needed .

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the Media Center LAN issue has been fixed.  I know I'm not the only one with the issue (there has been others complaining about it on the original firmware thread).  When using Media Center I can get it to scan for networks and find them.  I can even choose the one where my network drive/directories are, and select the director.  Right after that, it gives the "Network State" error and creates a useless shortcut.  When trying to manually add a link to the network drive I either get a LAN has failed error, taking me back to the home screen, or the box freezes and I have to pull the plug in the back and hard restart.

Are you using Samba or NFS?  Can a PC on your network see the Q10?  Have you allocated a fixed IP address to the Q10?  Do you have a firewall/anti-virus software on your network that may be restricting access?

I have upgraded to 2.0.7 and Samba is still working fine for me with all network drives (including Thecus & QNAP NAS's, Seagate Centrals and WD Cloud).

In the 1.0.X firmware this was never an issue.  I don't use Samba or NFS...I simply want to access a WD MyBook drive directly attached to my router.  Windows finds it fine, and even the HiMedia box can find it...it just won't access it or effectively create a shortcut.  It isn't password protected either.  It also doesn't work only on HiMedia Media Center.  I've had to install ES File Explorer and it finds and can access it just fine...that is what I've been using.  However, the convenience of using Hi Media Media Center is that it is remote friendly.  File Managers require that I pull out my Rii or other Bluetooth keyboard with touchpad to effectively navigate.  No firewall or antivirus enabled on the router that would limit access.  Also, my PC can see the Hi Media player when the player is turned on.  I'm not the only one who has had this issue either.  I was hoping enough people were getting the error that it would get passed on.  It only started when transitioning to the 2.0.X firmware.

To me, the only way to get rid of it is by switching the resolution to 4096*2160.

Disable imprex engine

Does anyone know how to disable it? I tried to do that during playback via advanced options and was not able to  - all options were greyed out, having comment that the current mode is not SDR... So how it works and when I can disable it for playing movies in 720p / 1080p?

Cant the firmware be upgraded via regular usb stick? Do we have to press that update button on the box and shit?

Hi..

I just try to upgrade my box using method 2. The box restart and after white circle, dead android logo appear and boot again to previous OS.
Method 1 also the same. Is it any problem? I already change 3 usb drives.

Follow the steps below first and should work fine.

1. USB drive MUST BE FORMATTED as FAT32...format it in windows
2. Copy update file to the root of the USB drive
3. Filename MUST be update.zip ....if not already that name rename the file and make sure NO other files exist on that USB except the update zip file

This happens when you've expanded ALL of the individual files in the zip file to the USB memory stick.

You need to manually COPY the file update.zip to the USB Memory stick, do NOT use a program like Winzip to move it there because that will extract all of the data.

In Windows, click on your USB memory stick icon. All you should see is ONE file listed "update.zip".

If you are seeing lots of files and folders
META
META-INF
system
userdata
baseparam.img
boot.img
and so on ...

then you have done it incorrectly and it won't work.

I think I can see the problem now!!! If you go to the HiMedia Support page:

http://www.himediatech.com/support.htm

and click on:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/pkd2njkwvrgauvn/update.zip

you will download the actual "update.zip" file (no extraction needed) and you just need to copy this file to a USB memory stick.

BUT, if you follow futeko's instructions and click on:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/y1qhes2nd0nc9xz/Q10_PRO_FIRMWARE._ANDROID_7_v2.0.4%2B_TO_v2.0.7._FUTEKO._HMD-2.0.7_2018-01-12.zip

you WILL need to extract the "update.zip" file from the file that downloads using an extraction program like WinZip!!! Then you can copy that  file to a USB memory stick.

Tune all sections of Imprex Engine to OFF, but not during playback, logically. Than its off. As i know.

One more thing is before this version,  when I'm typing sometimes system freeze 1-2minutes. This version still have this problem.
The problem happen when I'm using on screen keyboard.

As far as I know the Imprex  doesn't even operate when in HDR mode (correct me if I'm wrong).  However, switch the output to SDR mode in the Settings->More menu and than you can turn off the Imprex engine during a video playback, and you can than switch back to HDR.

It's not really a contribution to this topic, more of a statement, but I'll stick to 2.0.6 for a while.

Apparently the interns working at HiMedia firmware department unfixed fixes and introduced new bugs.

Coming from an Xtreamer Prodigy with extremely crappy firmware, these Q10 firmware updates bring back a lot of unpleasant memories.

Kodi is playing fine, though.

The problem is I just change the name to update.zip. Actually already have in zip file.  Zip in zip.  😅

I was just referring to futeko's FAQ's

"Download: http://www.mediafire.com/file/y1qhes2nd0nc9xz/Q10_PRO_FIRMWARE._ANDROID_7_v2.0.4%2B_TO_v2.0.7._FUTEKO._HMD-2.0.7_2018-01-12.zip

1. Extract update.zip (using an unzip program like 7zip, winzip etc) from the downloaded zip archive to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB pen drive. (the USB pen drive should contain a single file called 'update.zip'). Note, there is no need to rename anything!"

which probably need updating??

Just 5 seconds on the forum reading about subtitles and avi files. For me personally it's enough to know 2.0.7 is not an improvement.

Obviously I have/t tried out the 2.0.7 myself, but I do get the distinct impression from, indeed, these Chinese Whispers that we're better off to wait for another update.

For auto framerate switching in Kodi you need the Kodi patch. http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1015.0

For most auto framerate switching in Himediaplayer / wrapper you don't need a patch. You only need it if you need the extra switching. See thread for more info: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1043.0

Do you have spaces in the paths or the names of the shared folders?

On Firmware 1.xx, it's OK to have "/share/Movies 1" with a space between the word "Movies" and the number "1." But on Firmware 2.xx, it isn't. It has to be "Movies1" or Movies_1."

I found this out the hard way, after much hair pulling and teeth grinding. Renaming all network shares did the trick.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip.  I do have a space between two-word shared directory name.  When I get a chance I'll have to try your tip and see if it fixes it.  In my opinion HiMedia should take a look at this...should be an easy fix to allow spaces in network drive/directory names.

Hello Futeko!

I can confirm the bug that the subtitles are running now in 2.07 with a wrong timing.
Please report this to HiMedia.

Cheers

I also get this problem with 2.07 with 1080p content. srt subs run ok for a few seconds, then pause and catch up with several subs running through in quick succession, far too quick to read. This is when running through the wrapper. The Kodi player seems to work ok, with 1080p stuff at least.
I have reverted to 2.04 and subs are fine again.

Hello everybody,
today I dirty flashed back to CFW2.0.6.
The reason is a VERY ANNOYING BUG in subtitles of 2.0.7 - sometimes WHOLE LINES of subtitles were not shown, even if pauses were fixed with subtitle workshop. It was a definite, real, repetitive flaw which I could repeat MANY times, and which DISSAPEARED once I came back to 2.0.6.
Verified and re-verified.
This is just to let you know, for your info.
Cheers everyone.

Later Edit: I am not certain but starting with CFW2.0.7 I suddenly started to encounter repeated, relatively frequent (several times every movie or TV series) interruptions of playback, with blackscreen and video signal cutback, the 4k HDR Panasonic Smart Tv recovering signal and resuming playback after a few seconds. After rewinding back a few moments and resuming playback to go through the problem-moment again, the same blackscreen did not occur anymore, not even one time, so I presume that the phenomenon is generated by Q10Pro/Firmware, not by video file. Just for you all to know, maybe someone can put 2 and 2 together.
I only play video files stored internally on a relatively new, error free and well-maintained HDD. Only alterations to firmware are by patching for More framerate, ROOT and SAMBA. IMPREX always OFF.
I will come back with impressions if going back to CFW2.0.6 is bringing back any improvement.

Still no HD audio pass through with Kodi 17.x. I see the FAQ has been edited to no longer indicate this will be fixed in a future firmware. Does anyone know if this is still in the works, or has  Himeda given up on this?
It has nothing to do with Himedia, it is Kodi policy .
2.07 is Android 7 , API level 24
audiopassthrough for this API level :
 AC3, EAC3, DTS
Kodi team  miss hardware / software to implement dts-hd, truehd
Kodi team only implemented DTS -hd, TrueHd for Nvidia Shield only , along with Amologic devices .

In order to implement HD audio Himedia has to CONTACT KODI TEAM and provide them with information needed .

KODI follows the standard IEC API, I think. Apps follow the IEC API will passthrough the HD Audio in Android 7, such as Emby, PLEX, KODI. Himedia has to finalize their firmware for the IEC API.

Is there anything specific to 2.06 or 2.07 that you need that prevents you from dropping back to an earlier release? I've found 2.04 to be stable, and it's easy enough to install Kodi 17.6 on that release using the Kodi repository.

Not rely this situation after release of Kodi 17.6. Kodi Team change again how Kodi detect passthrough capability and in addition for me is strange decision of Kodi Team to force  IEC API on PCM 2.0 output start with Kodi 17.6, because  not one of SoC suppliers follow  IEC API on this way on their SDK.

Follow Kodi forum to see how good is decision to use IEC API force on PCM 2.0.

There is a "shitty" version of KODI's branch that use old way to deal with passthrough, and I think the original KODI still use the standard IEC API. I test the Android box's compatibility of IEC API with KODI and other apps such as Emby/Plex that announce to use the new IEC API. nVidia Shield TV can passthrough DTS:X/ATMOS with the three apps. Still hope Himedia's android box can.

PS: MX Player for Android TV now use the new IEC API, I think. I may tested it recently.

Since the 2.07 firmware has been installed, Wrapper loses lines in the subtitles. Kodi and other players do not cause problems. You have to inform the authors of the firmware.

If you're talking about Android settings, I deleted English. Added Spanish. Saved. Then I deleted Spanish and re-added English.

This had no effect whatsoever.

So then I clicked on the link you provided and it said "can you show me where this option is, I'm blind."

Do you think you could possibly be a tiny bit helpful instead of sending me in circles with no results yet again?

Unless of course, you work for the competition and want to keep us clueless and in the dark. IF that's the case, please post many more messages EXACTLY like that!
Start a movie, go into options or menu. Select subtitle default to "off" if the option for default "off" isn't shown, Go into android settings, to language, delete english and install a different language. Then restart the movie and the option to turn subtitle default "off" should be shown. Finally, go back into android settings, and reinstall english in language settings. Reload movie and see that subtitle is "off " by default :)

Well ok thx but if I change it to sth. I can understand and the movie has the subtitles in THAT language it still gets activated. Thats not a real fix. Cant we just disable them for good? This Q10 is good overall but the probs and bugs are unbelievable ^^

Isnt there an official way somehow? Or why was the firmware update info lying about that?

Subtitles can't be turned off forever with English at least. The message about switching to another language, disabling subtitles, then going back to English works for me only until I reboot the device.

I'm on CFW 2.0.7 and the subtitles remain off after reboot multiple times.

I just update from firmware 2.0.3 to 2.0.7 that all went fine.
But then I installed Kodi 17.6 and there is no Audio Passthrough.
So I installed the 17.6 shitty build, also there I get no 5.1 sound, I get a stranged sound, like a slow motion and no Dolby Digital on my receiver?
So I installed the Kodi 17.3 shitty build that worked fine with passthrough on firmware 2.0.3 but also not with firmware 2.0.7
Can someone help me with this, what am I doing wrong?   :'(

Or use the "wrapper" to play from Kodi and HD 7.1 passes fine, as it always has  :)

Wrapper does not play with Kodi streams?

With online streams? No, only local.

But AAC 5.1 sound was working before with firmware 2.0.3 and Kodi streams, why not with firmware 2.0.7?

There is a workaround to removing srt and ass subtitles (almost) You can set them to black, move them to the bottom of the screen, i.e. position -200 and resize them to 0. Even if they do appear at -200 position, which is unlikely, they'll be so small you'll barely see them. There's no way to do this with vob/sub short of remuxing to remove them. With MKV encodes you can use MKVtoolnix which can be downloaded free. With bluray isos MakeMKV can do the job. Both of the latter remux the movie losslessly.

The 1st post is confusing by first stating ;
"** THIS FIRMWARE IS FOR INTERNATIONAL/EUROPEAN HIMEDIA Q10 PRO ONLY!"

Then stating;
"THIS FIRMWARE CAN ONLY BE INSTALLED ON A EUROPEAN Q10 PRO RUNNING ANDROID 7 FIRMWARE 2.0.4 OR LATER!"

The only F/W link is after that statement. The question is, what exactly is considered a "European" version, does that include versions for the US market??

HiMedia doesn't have US market product for Q Pro series
HiMedia usually have Chinese and European models witch have FW difference and for some model also hardware difference.
"Chinese" is meaning for sale on China and "European" is for sale over the sea name it "EUROPEAN" because of  EU power supply included on package.
For INTERNATIONAL user reseller add on delivery package need it power plug adapter.

US user will get a "EUROPEAN" model and one power plug adapter from Euro to US plug.

There are versions with a US AC adapter available without using a outlet adapter.
Any 12vdc 2+ amp power supply with the correct coaxial plug would work.  ;)
