This firmware requires Android 7 to be installed.

If running Android 5.1 we advise installing 2.0.1 first (Q10 Pro 2.0.1: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1610.0) and then allowing your Q10 Pro to auto-update to latest firmware.

Hi, futeko.
Subtitles problem not fixed?
Subtitles that disappear when timing is too close and video stuttering when using subtitle time adjust?

Subtitles problem not fixed?

I think so but it needs more testing. There will be a lot of little fixes in this firmware not in the changelog.

The HDR aspect ratio and Kodi 17 passthrough problems are not fixed. HiMedia/HiSilicon say early May. You can get 5.1 passthrough from Kodi 17.1 native player by installing the 'shitty' builds of Kodi 17 (Kodi 17.1 with Kodi 16.1 audio system restored). See here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=289735 and here: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/arm/kodi-20170411-a4896c0-shitty-armeabi-v7a.apk

All firmware feedback is appreciated and will be fed back to HiMedia.

The log has some very scrambling and confusing formulation (as it used to):

Optimized the option of 24HZ in player setup
Upgraded Wrapper, optimized Kodi displaying
Updated the latest Hisilicon SDK, presenting a more stable system and better display;

What do they want to actually and exactly mean?!  :???

It would be "nice" to know before any upgrades, at least to know what would (could) it fix or improve... I know it blames on Himedia, but would be nice some more distinct feedback on these after some testing (and if you could even figure that out at all)...

Thanks!

Agree with Mount81 what a list of mostly useless updates after all the promises, One of the basic problems proper playback of HDR material is still not fixed. They say it will be fixed later in May update, haven't they said something similar before its like tomorrow will never come.

I guess I will give it a try and check if the compatibility with Kodi 17 hardware acceleration - Mediacodec (Surface) -> video engine Expressx  has been addressed or not.

Himedia does not take Futeko seriously, and the users already not at all. Now is fixed until a new model comes out. I get on the Nvidia Shield around Nvidia hears his users least. You will see. Dolby Atmos with kodi dvd player still does not go that will never come so synonymous. You will see that the q5 / q10pro at the end is just like the q5 / 10 quad >:(

Whilst I understand the frustration with the new firmware not fixing issues that everyone wants fixed I chose this player after the manufacturer of last player gave up and left me with a doorstop, the only benefit is that the kids can use it to play amazon programs etc.
So far I can play all my films at 1080p with 5.1 audio, I would prefer full 7.1 audio but it's not a deal breaker at this point.
The fact that HiMedia continue to develop the firmware to try and fix the issues is good enough for me.

Nvidia Shield has Dolby Atmos with Kodi dvd player and the other things will be fixed. With the Himedia you need not at all hope that what is fixed only sound and smoke what comes out with it Everything is talked beautifully until a new model comes.
The Himedia boxes are not even banana crate because the mature at the customer and this device fault only (google translator)

Hi,

I've tried with two movies with the same problem on subtitles and they're fine: just lucky I guess
Of course DROLL is right because he already tested precisely where he had verified the problem.
Obviously the improvements are not enough.
HIMEDIA users are waiting for FUTEKO .... we need a quick response.

I applied the new FW 2.0.3 over the existing 2.0.1 and can note the marked changes in the performance.

Kodi is working fine.

System is stable; Lesser crashes/hangups

Date & Time Auto Reset which was a regular feature with 2.0.1 is no longer

5.1 Audio Passthrough while using Kodi

Thanks Futeko! Hope other bugs are fixed soon.

Why does Kodi show my resolution as 1080p 60hz (which is greyed out so I can't change it) when my settings are 2160p via hdmi into my 4K Samsung tv? the HiMedia media player has the correct resolution.

Can someone confirm if these issues were fixed (forced me to ditch 2.0.1 and stay with 1.0.9...1.1.0 also had problems):

- I was unable to access LAN network storage.  I kept getting an error in media center.
- Attached USB drives would show up in file manager and media center but data could not be accessed.

If those work and system is stable I would try going back up to Android 7.  Recommendations and observations of 2.0.3 in this regard?  Thanks.

I am preparing to rollback to android 5.1 with version 1.09. This firmware is a total disaster for my Q10 pro. It simply crashes after opening kodi 17.1, flashed it several times. Also x-plore black screen and freeze of the device. Uninstall kodi 17.1 and replace it with 16.1 black screen and total freeze. Only option power off and on.
Strange thing is that after the first flash it worked with kodi, after a while using it the problems began. Flashed it more than 6 times.......
So now one hour later I am on 5.1 with version 1.09. Stable. Thanks Futeko for the manuals!
Try later to move back to android 7 when firmware is more stable.

Streams not working with the Wrapper Player. Kodi player is giving 5.1 audio pass while keeping the Audio as  RAW in the media player setting. Enable the passthrough option in the Kodi setting.

One big shit.

The system is mega unstable.
Suspension all the time, Kodi 17.1 does not work the return button on the remote.
I wanted to "roll out" Kodi 17.1 and again Q10Pro "hang"

The problem with HDMI is still "good that I have an adapter" ... (only if Himmedia does not give it in price since they can not do it programmatically) so much time to check before everything again "hangs"

And halfway, I'm eager to throw this device out the window.

A joke was the amendment for 5.1. For version 7 it's not even a joke anymore ....

I do not want to check anything anymore, neither upload or move ....

A joke with customers.

Just tried this new formare.

At first seemed very responsive. Very nice indeed..

Then I started to use it...

I usually copy my backup of whole kodi directory stored on my nas drive  to himedia.
This way I can keep all my settings and skins etc..

However, when trying to copy to himedia, I get a error that internal SD card is read only. So esfile explorer aborts, as it can't copy to himedia.

Then started to get this error message.

android st process has stopped

Onky way to get rid of error is to unplug himedia.

Now on Reboot sits at himedia screen forever.

Only way to  boot again is to reflash firmware via usb..

Then will boot.
But...
Will get write errors again  and that messsge
So have to reflash..

Just went back to 2.0.1 and  now no write errors etc.
Stable..

So my advice for now.. STAY AWAY FROM THIS NEW VERSION.

It will currupt the internal memory writes, and require a reflash to boot..

Ok, but no ones complained to any kind of freezes and hang-ups since the last couple of upgrades. And a couple of hours just far not enough to make exact conclusions like that regarding the stability. That's why it sounded like trolling, sorry if that's not the case.

Himedia should revise it's whole product development strategy, if they're will still be unable to fix these basic issues regarding KODI 17. It's been for a while now, and still no any tiny sign of whenever they would be capable to. The most correct way would be to revert the preinstalled KODI to version 16.1 in any upcoming firmwares, and do so within text of the advertisements. Sure it looks more "hooky" with ver. 17 advertised, but after so many user complains, maybe it's not a wise strategy in a longer term and remains just a partial marketing BS. Fix what needs to be fixed first, than we can come back to the question. But I have also begun to feel, that Himedia -also regarding some other issues- doesn't really take care much about user requests, expectations and complains anymore. It's good that they're still showing "some kind" of development regarding the firmwares, but recently it falls far away from the expected route.

I should add a new issue. There is a very annoying flickering effect during the playback. It was only if I used imprex. Maybe it comes from an automatic contrast feature instead of I have switched it off always.  I have to rollback to 2.0.1. I was happy before I have noticed this issue because the tidal app was working in 2.0.3 instead of 2.0.1.

That firmware is 1.10 for Android 5.1.1. I downloaded it and looked in the zip file. There is a bootlog file which states 5.1.1.  Quite a bit messy so I mailed them about the location of the other firmwares for 7.0 and 5.1.1

The story with 23.976 fps movie comes back on new SDK.

I've opened this topic to track changes.

@futeko, please report to Himedia that 23.976 fps is brocken on 2.0.3 firmware.

You can check it visually with pendulum video: http://www59.zippyshare.com/v/PzbF9IhC/file.html

Below some diagnostic. I've selected with bold what's wrong. It was fixed about nine month ago.

To those complaining about Kodi 17.1 remote not working, this is an old known issue that was introduced by Kodi (it did not happen in 17.0).
The remote keys have simply been remapped, so they do work, just differently....
Full info in thread:
 http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1789.0

Fix was also posted courtesy of @DancesWithChickens ;  http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1849.0

EDIT/UPDATE 16th April
Many thanks to @pcristi for the real fix  ;D
See above thread; simply disabling Joystick Support (and rebooting) gives back the normal remote operations  8)

Also if Kodi 17.1 gets into a constant reboot loop, turning off all auto updates seemed to fix the problem previously.

I have installed new firmware today and will test thoroughly before posting my observations of changes.
EDIT 16/4:  found new Android remapped internal and USB attached HDD's with different ID so Kodi and SPMC showed the same drive names but not the library (which needed Content Setting again and library updated).  NAS names and library were not altered.  Library Clean is then required to remove duplicates.

After using this new firmware 2.0.3 and having changed seetings, used some tweaks, here are my findings (flaws) :

1. HDMI CEC still doesn't work, my home cinema -TV  HDMI ARC connection still goes crazy

2. Lack of google account in the Android settings (you can only login into your account in the Play Store)

3. No security TAB in the Android settings, hence you cannot change the unknown sources "ON" , so I cannot install any third party app, or any app out of the Play Store, making it impossible to install the "shitty" version of KODI provided in this forum.

4. Now there is only 1 single wallpaper and there is no way to change it, or to point at a folder with graphics.

As for audio and video until now they seem OK with the media center+wrapper, I have to test more in this area to be able to write any details.

i have downloaded this firmware, but have not installed it on my device.   The question i want to ask is did this firmware fix the  home launcher issue that 2.0.2 had?  I dont want to install this if i still cant use NOVA launcher.

Hey fellow-sufferers,

Here are my findings after only one day playing with this fw:

- google play account issue that was causing crashes in the beta still exist, without google account it seems to be quite stable but no access to play store.
- no audio pass-trough on kodi's internal videoplayer  :'(
- MX Player is a very good alternative since it also supports streamed content  ;D
- Persistent mountpoints seem to be broken.  :'( they don't survive a reboot
- Mount names do not follow shortcut names anymore  :'(
(i am using loouns script for persistent smb & nfs shares again  8) so no need to rescan my library )

As for the remote keys return & menu issue:
I created a file called Hi_keyboard_v0001_p0001_11b.xml with the following content:

<?xml version="1.0" ?>
<buttonmap>
    <device name="Hi keyboard" provider="android" vid="0001" pid="0001" buttoncount="11">
        <controller id="game.controller.default">
            <feature name="back" button="4" />
            <feature name="x" button="5" />
        </controller>
    </device>
</buttonmap>

Next save the file to /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/peripheral.joystick/resources/buttonmaps/xml/ and your remote will work as expected after the next reboot.

First...just want to thank Futeko for keeping past firmwares available on your site.  It is noticed that a lot of people need them to revert back to previous versions due to major bug issues with recent releases, including this one.  I just noticed that HiMedia replaced their 1.1.0  link with 2.0.3.  Based on the comments on here regarding stability, network problems, Google Play and 3rd party apk unavailability, and others, they are going to have a lot of disappointed customers.  Many of them will not have kept their 1.0.8 or 1.0.9 firmware versions and will not be happy.  I would be one of them too had I not stumbled on Futeko's site a few weeks ago!  I sure hope HiMedia reads these posts and is working to make 2.0.3 stable and fix problems that were fine in previous 1.X firmwares.  I want to upgrade to Android 7 version, just like everyone else...but don't have the time to keep upgrading and downgrading all the time:)

Thanks for all the feedback, however negative.

We have been in regular contact with HiMedia since this firmware was released and they have been made aware of the reaction it has received.

We will provide more detailed answers to individual questions next week after Easter.

Dear Futeko,

Lots of hopes were pinned on getting Amazon Prime Video working with the new FW but to utter disappointment. Please get the App working. Your Youtube App is just excellent 10/10.

Don't put too much hope Himedia can fix Amazon Prime. Amazon is not intended at all in making the app working on too many platforms cause they are pushing for their own player.
Look at the fact you can't use Chromecast with it, the most basic functionality they refuse to add.

Noticed the flickering.
And going back to 1.08...

2 days after upgrade. A handful of movies with the new release.
First - upgrade: I really don't understand why we don't receive an ordinary OTA to preserve all settings. Let's say if I'm willing to wait an OTA will appear. And let's move on.
Adding a couple of Samba shares from by Synology units. No problem, just Wrapper can't play any movie when is over Samba. No, I can't have the same user/pass on both Synology so I can't fill the box in Wrapper settings. Let's move on to NFS. Adding shares, no problems. NFS shares are read-only, only Q10 Pro IP address is allowed. So it's safe enough.
After first start I configured Google account in Play Store. ~10 minutes later Play Store crashed. Whatever. Some times later, while watching a movie some 2 character process start crashing. Continuously. WTF??? Reboot the unit, start a movie. No problems whatsoever. Not in the second day. So probably initial setup has some leftovers in the memory.
Framerate switching. The same setting in Playback 24Hz does nothing now. Whatever, maybe I forgot a setting that was working in previous release. Slightly annoying but that's all.
Image quality - like before. I'm happy.
Subtitles - oh yeah! Not a billion settings about subtitles, not possible to choose encoding, not size, not special effects! Nothing but pure perfect functionality! Size is perfect on my TV, the new subtitle effect is perfect no matter the movie background. And no skipping of too close subtitles! And that was the single aspect that was pissing me off on this player!
Strange: with Rii remote is somehow complicated to scroll down in menus. Default remote scrolls as it should. But the back button doesn't work on this remote. It woks on Rii just fine. And I don't actually scroll in the menus except during initial setup.
Rii turns off the unit! Every single time! Time to put away the default remote!

For me this release is not perfect, I got that people have big problems with passthrough and that's sad, but I'm happy! I was so close to sell it!
I would guess what went wrong in this release is because of new far-from-perfect SDK.

first firmware install (safe mode of course):
multiple play store crashes

second try:
installed everything, seems to work.
powered down.
turned unit on - stuck at himedia logo, won't boot up anymore.

this buggy garbage is a public firmware release, seriously Himedia?

going back to 2.0.1

I agree, not impressed with this firmware. I can't make the framrate switch work with the internal Kodi player (need it for streaming). With 1.1.0 (Android 5) it works perfectly. I downgraded to this version (1.1.0)

8. Fixed the issue of adopting only 2 audio channels while applying PCM7.1 pass-through

You said bitstream audios' Dolby TrueHD DTS MA etc. aren't working, but HD LPCM 7.1  audio is working(quote above). You should be telling people to switch over if supported.  Another way for people to check is look at the av receiver display for "mulit-channel. Ultimately LPCM & Bitstream sound the same for most. Only a machine can tell the difference.

Dear Futeko,

I have a query here. How different your FW 2.0.3 is from what is hosted on Himedia support page? Os it the exact replica?

http://www.himediatech.com/support.htm

That firmware is 1.10 for Android 5.1.1. I downloaded it and looked in the zip file. There is a bootlog file which states 5.1.1.  Quite a bit messy so I mailed them about the location of the other firmwares for 7.0 and 5.1.1

They now have firmware 2.0.3 on their support page for download. Guess for Android 7

Maybe the most of them didnt flash the 2.0.3 or going back without massively testing. The others didnt use the IE. Btw. its the best choice for every FW. ;)

Most likely the same issue as with the Ziggo Go app or any other app that allows you to play DRM protected videos. Netflix has done it differently, they only allow 480p on devices that are rooted or not certificied by them. The Amazon also more than likely requires something our firmware and a lot of other firmwares are missing ... but ofcourse they will not tell what that is.

I took some time with testing to avoid the flickering which comes with the new firmware. This issue is only with imprex on instead of switched off dynamic contrast.

Is this issue defined as an official defect for this firmware?

This is an old issue returning again. Already reported several times with various fw versions in ths forum. It just comes and goes randomly with every new fw so if you want to use this imprex feature find a version that just don't have this bug.

I can no longer install Kodi's nightly builds on my Q10 Pro  >:( !

The last successful install was kodi-20170410-7f7f7e8-Krypton-armeabi-v7a.apk last week.
Today I've tried to install kodi-20170418-5066f8f-Krypton-armeabi-v7a.apk but it fails! There were no new builds between the 10th and the 18th builds.

The install process fails followed by an error message "st process has stopped", but clicking the "Close app" option has no effect. All I can do is switch the box off with the remote.

I installed FW v2.0.3 yesterday, could this be the problem???

I've tried installing previous nightly builds but none worked. I even uninstalled Kodi and re-installed the 17.1 release from Google Play. But I still am unable to install any Kodi nightly apks.

Any ideas?

This firmware is a disastrous.
went back to 2.0.1

PS. If you still don't upgrade to 2.0.3. Stay where you are
also went back to 2.01 flickering when viewing movie is not acceptable, was this tested ?
also key mapping in Kodi is different, you have to find out yourself.
Having said this, continue the good work and release a decent version.

That happened to me after i installed 2.0.3. As soon as the unit was running i logged in Play Store and install all available updates.
It was impossible to get rid of the st message so i reboot the unit. I haven't install/update any app since then and the crash didn't reappear, so something must be broken when installing an app.
Hopefully futeko will reproduce it and report it to Himedia.

For me it only happens when trying to install  the Kodi nightly-build apk files. I've tried installing other apk files (from APKMirror) and they install with no problems  ???

LATEST: Today I thought that I would try again with the latest nightly build of Kodi (19th). It worked!!!!!  No problems whatsoever. There would appear to be a plethora of factors that contribute to the problems with FW 2.0.3?

Hello, now you have no choice to install if possible Clean Master and try to clean all about the Kodi app. And try again with and old version under the 18 day Date.

Try installing this nightly (as previously recommended by @DancesWithChickens:

http://mirrors.kodi.tv/nightlies/android/arm/Krypton/kodi-20170407-eb3a01a-Krypton-armeabi-v7a.apk
- Download, move file to Q10 Pro, install with File Manager.

I have been using this 17.2RC release with Firmware 2.0.3 without any issues (and have disabled "Joystick Control") since Easter Saturday.
All 1080p @23.976 files playing fine with HD 5.1 and 7.1 audio passthrough (and with Kodi 17 using updated wrapper).
Playback checked for with samples of 60Hz, 24Hz and 29.97Hz as well as 10bit HEVC.  All good  :)
Note all videos were from NAS or HDD sources (no streaming tested).

Noted FLAC 7.1 passes but only when there is another audio track present (it is also noticeably lower quality than the TrueHD 7.1 track possibly due to Android's 16 bit limitation).  AAC 5.1 still plays ok.

Only minor issue experienced by myself so far has been the new ID's Android 7 firmware allocated to internal and USB attached HDD's (e.g. sdb1 in lieu of sda1).  It kept their drive names ok and was easy to rectify.  This required Kodi and SPMC to rescan and then clean the library to remove duplicates.

I think I'm going to "leave well enough alone" for the moment  ;). Last night's build is working fine (fingers crossed!)

I only have a 2.1 soundbase ( :() so I'm not interested in all this passthrough stuff.

Exactly what i did and experienced!

Now after every boot thge whole damn thing locks amd have to pull the plug.
Think im going back to Android 5

Futeko states (as mirroring Himedia) that this is the best firmware so far. :??? What makes this statement true, in what has it been improved since 1.0.9?  Does it have a better PQ? I didn't even bothered any Android 7 version to try, cause based on the complains read here it caused more troubles than fixes. Why should I trust better in this upgrade?

The "Wallposter" feature isn't a big  deal breaker for me as I use KODI for Jukeboxing and I'm quite used to and satisfied with it.

I have also read on another forum, that 2.0.3 reintroduced the dynamic contrast "flashing" bug, is that true, has it been already and properly tested by Futeko?!
And what about the incorrect 23.976 fps bug reports coming also from 2.0.3 fw user try-outs posted here a few days ago? Are they all just "humbug"?!

And I have also read, that Himedia won't do any further updates on Android 5. -> That's also a sort of disappointment.  The best fw I've tried so far was 1.0.9, and still based on Android 5.

Hi Futeko, Himedia,

So The Q10 Pro is very nice but as well to give us the new firmware 2.03 and told us that this is a new official firmware is a big error.
Think really that you can tell all of us who trust to have a new SDK firmware with a real work  And not an unstable Himedia Player which plants every time with Google and so on.

At this this is very nice to work hard but please don't give us like a real new firmware intead of a BETA firmware for people who want to test and have report bugs.

I really trust this Q10 Pro but at this time my thing stay in the CS 2.01 from PcRisti really good work, without forget Loon.

Meanwhile we are waiting now and soon a NEW firmware 2.04, 2.0X version.

Thanks

Futeko says Himedia isn't planning a new device to 2017. So as far as this year goes we could consider us as "secure". Wish only the advance of the updates could underpin this.

However there been many times that Himedia fooled us with their infos and dates, so I wouldn't rely only on this. Wish they would regain their good starting attitude regarding these firmware updates, while since they seam to very much loose the right track of the costumer support approach along the way...

They never had a good attitude regarding firmware. We waited like 8-10 months for the 23.976 fix? Actually that was the only big issue among a lot of other that they were able to fix by themselves. Since then they are just providing us more and more bugs with each release.

I hope HiMedia does not come up with a new model before they've fixed the Q10 Pro problems, then I'm done with HiMedia and I'll buy a Shield TV.

That 'new model' at the 2017 show is HiMedia Q10 Pro.

There will be no new chipset HiMedia media player in 2017. Maybe more based on HiSilicon V200 (as in Q5/Q10 Pro), but that's all.

I was at the TV Connnect show in London a few weeks ago, where HiSilicon were a major exhibitor. The V200 chipset was presented as their top-end IPTV solution and was being promoted heavily. V200 will receive development from HiSilicon for a long time to some.

At this time the most important is to Himedia to fix problem in the Q10 Pro one instead to see most od the costumers going outside and forget Himadia Production. This is very nice to say the New SDK and so on but the most bugs not be resolving, so excuse me but they have thsi way to make, as all costumers from Q10 Pro were happy and said yes this is the best one HD player. Wish soon a new firmware with real bugs resolve and not have new app without real way....

This firnware sucks. It's a huge desaster.

Annoying enough we have to wait for a new one.

Futeko should ask for a Bugfix release.
Just fixing errors no new features.
Especially those introduced with 2.0.3.

@futeko

I am still on 2.0.1 and Kodi 16.1 which is somehow the most stable situation right now.

Do we have any news from the developers? Easter is over. Can we get some feedback regarding the issues faced by everyone here and plans for a proper firmware update that can hopefully make everyone happy?

Thanks a lot

Also just a quick question, is the decision NOT to use HDMI Arc due to hardware limitation or could it be potentially introduced by firmware update?
The Q10 is the only device I have that doesn't support ARC so it messes up my Soundbar and I often have to turn off my TV completely in order for the soundbar to work again with the other devices...  :-\

Hello to everybody from Romania.
Just got my Q10 Pro, Android 7. Upgraded to 2.0.3 official firmware. Playing only local files from internat HDD.
Subitle bug again by not displaying correctly diacritics, in both Kodi+Wrapper and HimediaPlayer. Changing different encodes not solving it either.
In Kodi+Wrapper if set Subtitle Encoding to Auto, is the closest to being correct, by displaying everything in Romanian correctly EXCEPT for letter " ? "wich is displayed by a square. Also the type of signs shown sometimes differ from one subtitle to other, probably because of different translators using different softwares and type of encoding. Any advice? Thanks.

I've had the same issues. You need to check the encoding on a PC and then select UTF-8 or ANSI. You can easily view encoding of a subtitle in Notepad++ on Windows. I am only using the wrapper on 3D content now because I still had issues with diacritics on some subtitles.

Thank you for this. How do i do that, checking the encoding that is. In the subtitle file's properties is not mentioned...
on another line of reasoning, it seems to me that the solution is either installing new subtitle encondings, or fonts to Kodi and Wrapper OR to reencoding the subtitle (a pain in the ash...) since Eastern European is missing. Even in Himedia Player itself, there is a possibility to setup Romanian but is not really the necessary encoding...
EDIT: Found out that the UTF Romanian subtitle is displaying correctly, whereas the ANSI encoded one has issues. Thanks for pointing me to the right direction. Hope this solves at least partially the problem. Now I am looking for a little utility on whose icon I could drop the subtitle, in order to do a simple autodetect and conversion to UTF8. Hope I could find one. Cheers.

[DVI also doesn't pass audio signal, so it's not a good option, unless you pass audio via digital output SPDIF and not HDMI.
Not sure where you get your incorrect information from but I am successfully using the two DVI adaptors on my Q10Pro and can assure you, full HDMI passthrough for video and 7.1 audio works!!  It is simply a cheaper option to the Lindy adaptor to remove CEC.

I just made some investigations and it seems that the only way to pass audio is to use , as you say, a DVI-HDMI adapter, but you have to make sure it is the complete DVI-D with all the pins on it.
So my apologies, you were right. I was not able to find any info about 7.1 sound, but if you do have 7.1 sound, then great! Good to know! We all learn something everyday! :)

Could you please give -finally- a clear, distinct, exact, and straight answer to my following question:  does 23.976 fps switching work correctly and in all cases with the 2.0.3 fw, or not?!

Thank you!

Hi,

I can't set set my physical keyboard to my country's layout, it seems to be permanently with the US layout. Is this a bug or there's something I'm missing.
Also, is it possible to have keyboard shortcuts to copy/paste.

Thanks

I think not, because pcristi made a patch for this version:

Can anybody confirm that this fix the fps switching problem?

As I told you DVI is video ONLY. And this is true, but I found out that some use spare/reserved pins to transmit audio.

Depends on the DVI version supported by the DVI device output/input, interface, cable and converters.  The latest (last) DVI version supports audio as well.

Hi! Not shure im in the right place, but i have a problem after updating to Kodi 17.1. I lost the command button(right corner below direction wheel) that access the "submenu" for adding Movies, Movie info and some other commands. Does anyone know if this command is in the Kodi controller setup(or maybe its just for game controllers)  and if so, what it is called? Or is it something from the Q10 Pro setup?

The remote control remapping is a Kodi 17.1 special!

There is a private beta bug-fix 2.0.4, so 2.0.4 bug-fix firmware will come soon.

I/we/all wait for HiSilicon/HiMedia to add 7.1 audio support to native Kodi player and fix HDR unusual aspect ratio problem, I have no specific update.

I'm waiting for 2.0.4 as this version is very buggy..
So I have not tried the wallpaper feature.

I have some questions about it for when I do decide  to try.

I have 2 q10pro.
And have a nas with media I will use for streaming to the q10pros.

Does the wallpaper download art work and add to the directories of the media files, or does it add artwork internal in each player..

If artwork  are indeed added to media file directories, will scanning on wallpaper app, use the art work thst is there already instead of re fetching from net?..

This would be very desired if using 2 q10pro, as each player could look at media files locations, and use the existing artwork...

Thanks for answers...

Do you have a list of the fixes included in 2.0.4? I am still on 2.0.1 and using Kodi 16.1 to avoid all the headaches introduced by 2.0.3 and Kodi 17.

Is there any chance we get a bug free and user friendly firmware soon ? I don't want to waste my time going through custom patches and scripts to get what I need from this box.
I might just leave the box for my kids and their cartoons and just invest in a HTPC to avoid this android debacle and get a proper setup for watching movies without the hassle.

Firmware 1.1.0 is stable and works very well. As is 2.0.1. The patches on this forum are optional.

2.0.4 is a beta and is still being worked on. Changelog as of end last week:

1.  Fixed the issue of don't access internet on the some router
2.  Fixed the issue of 24hz ,Be consistent with android 5.1
3.  Fixed the issue of stuttering in video playback when adjusting subtitle timing
4.  Fixed the issue of edge color anomaly while shrinking display area
5.  The stability of the system is improved
6.  Fully update UI when play video

You don't need to install any of the patches.

With 1.1.0 or 2.0.1 firmware HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro are fully functional for most users.

Are they looking to add the fix for HDR Aspect Ratio on this 2.0.4 version still ? Due to the fact Kodi native player works fine with those HDR files (except there is no HD audio), I would imagine this requires a fix only on the Himedia Native player, and not the actual firmware.

This is pathetic...I have been waiting patiently for a long time, but now there's not even a confirmed date for these major fixes.
After 2.04 has no meaning, as it could be even until v3.0!
I still cannot see 4K HDR content even after a year of purchase of this "box". And BD menu is nowhere in sight. Time to move on I guess.

Futeko, is Egreat A5/ A10 a good option? Or maybe I should go for Oppo 203...

As it happens, the firmware with HDR unusual aspect ratio fix will probably be called 3.0. HiMedia still say mid May, although with 2.0.4 not out yet this date will probably slip.

At this moment in time Egreat A5/A10 firmware is better for media playback using Egreat media player. It has BD menus, the interface is better, poster wall etc. Egreat are also waiting for the HiSilicon HDR unsual aspect ratio fix though, so Egreat A5/A10 will not help with that. HiMedia are better for Kodi because  they have the wrapper. To get full hardware on Egreat you need to use VidonXBMC, which is based on Kodi 16.1.

Ok - something positive here. After using FW 1.0.9 I now use 2.0.3 and I have to say... not really seeing any problems. True not using a 4K television or using a fancy audio system and also not using Kodi 17 but FTMC - but everything works fine!

I second this. Subtitles are important to me too. I had hoped that 2.0.3 with its new SDK would at least fix some annoying bugs:

- subtitles are frequently dropped
- 3d subtitles are rendered 2d, instead of moving with the focus

But this was not the case. On the contrary, 2.0.3 was so buggy that I was forced to go back to 2.0.1

I'm on Q10 Pro, android 7 - 2.0.3 official firmware, internal HDD. Is it normal that the internal HDD is cranking and working continuously? is there a setting to use in Android that tells the box to spindown the HDD unless it is in use? Thanks and cheers to everyone.

No, it is not normal at all.  I am also on 2.0.3 and Kodi 17.2RC and it has been working fine with no extra HDD activity.
Did you install any patches?  The "persistent mountpoint" patch caused constant disk access (and is not really required with Android 7).

As i sudenly keep getting the message APP Not responding screen, you press OK and popups after 1 min. again.
Only when killining the App store APP it becomes useble but very unstable, pops out movies, popups out of the APPS
Don't konow what happend but Android 7 isn't working for me on the Q10, and i only play movies throug Kodi (that uses the wrapper) the Dumpert APP and YouTube.

Hope they can fix this :(

Q: Why did you buy it all this year?
A: Because HiMedia is pioneering of BD (Q5), BD 3D ISO(Q5-II), UHD(Q5 quad), UHD HDR10(Q5 Pro).
I can bet a coffee if HiMedia have new SoC and pioneering first Android player with HDR10+/Chroma 4:2:2/4:4:4 support many owner of HiMedia Q Pro series will buy it.

BTW I don't know to exist finished(free of bugs) android media player available on market.

I can only say: "Bugfixes should be released sooner".
If a device doesn't make everything written in (on) the box it'is non compliant.
First of all this is an android box NON COMPLIANT with many android APKs (eg. Amazon Video).

Running Android not is mean get compatibility with application, easy to see this on Samsung Galaxy device witch get Android Nougat update and break compatibility with many application. I can't  declare Samsung Galaxy device are NON COMPLIANT, event Samsung forced Android Nougat on device.

Samsung is not a serious company.
Do you want to make comparison with that?

Samsung is not a serious company.

Nah, they are just the second largest tech company in the world, with higher revenue then Sony+Panasonic+LG altogether and more then 2 times higher revenue than Microsoft. They are not serious at all  ;D

Serious = be the second largest in the world

You may not like their products but that doesn't make them less serious.

In my humble opinion, SERIOUS indicates some trait of Character, while Samsung's main characteristic depicted here is SIZE.
Size does not equal seriousness.
Maybe only serious Business, money making for shareholders.
This does not necessarily imply quality of product or firmware/support.
Neither client orientation or support.
Cheers.

Let's not open a debate what serious is. It's not a measurable attribute for a company and so it is entirely subjective. And offtopic as well.  :)

Sadly, but partially true. Samsung isn't that reliable company that used to be in the 90's and the early 2000's. See just what they do with their TV firmware updates... Mass production trends and generating artificially the ever higher consumerism takes all bigger companies nova days in an all-wrong direction including the ignorance regarding true and long term user satisfaction... Tho' they still have some best-buys and good offers in most categories, but it's like a 10:100 chance to catch them if your not an experienced Tech-Forum bookish...

(Also agree that it's off Topic, sorry... ;D)

So where is the a/the new firmware.

With such a disaster like 2.0.3 released one should think HiMedia should be in a hurry to releasy a bugfix release 2.0.4 as soon as possible.  :(

After all this time I think 2.0.4 is not enough.
3.0 should be released.

Hell no. I hope they don't include any big changes / new features, just fix the damn buglist already and I will be happy.  ;D

I wasn't having a very bad experience with 2.03 until yesterday when the shit hit the fan: out of nothing all apps started to crash including the launcher. Reinstalled with the restore button method, the first time I opened Youtube it crashed, first time I used tTorrent it crashed...
Installed pcristi custom firmware and all seems well now.

Read the Q5/Q10 Pro FAQ (http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1517.0).
It's the 3rd point.

Thanks. What about the new Zidoo X10? Does this have BD menu for UHD? Does it have any issue with HDR aspect ratio?
