A change from firmware 2.0.0 is that there is now no need to install a migration firmware then a second final firmware to go from Android 5.1 to Android 7.

The upgrade from Android 5.1 to Android 7 is now done by one single upgrade.

As with all Q5/Q10 Pro firmware, whilst the upgrade can be done via box settings, we recommend a full reinstall according to our instructions using the UPGRADE/RESTORE buttons for best results.

First impressions are positive on my Q10 Pro.
Disappointments:
- Netflix still crashes every time I hit the back button. I was really hoping this would be fixed.
- Bitdefender antivirus also now suddenly crashes (didn't use to) when applying permissions

OK to update. It's standard Kodi.

You may need to reinstall wrapper after new Kodi install. Go My Apps - Wrapper - Set wrapper player.

Very disappointed! :(

Resolution bug still here (if I set 2160p, after reboot, swirch itself to 1080p).
No fixes on subtitles that disappear when timing is too close.

I think I will give the last chance to this "machine" with fw 1.09 and then Iwill move away from himedia.

Just finished the upgrade, 2-3 reloads later, Kodi finished indexing my files...turn off the unit from remote...it still needs a manual power off by unplugging the power source.
I was hoping this will be fixed like forever. No big deal though...

Futeko, do you have the Wrapper APK? The only solution I can think of is reinstall the wrapper (apart from reinstalling the firmware)

Just installed it, but removed the Kodi 17 RC because no support for Titan skin. Installed latest Kodi 16 and configured wrapper afterward.
First impressions: the </i> is still visible in embedded subtitles and not striped out in mediacanter. External subs no </i> visible, striped out but straigt text, no itallic (for me no issue).

Does q10 pro do hd audio passthrough when using internal player of kodi and no wrapper?

This on android 7 or 5?

I think 7 is needed for that.

Quote from other forum

Basically yes you will have to use a wrapper with the Q10 or have Q10 Android Firmware support the Google Android IEC61937 Audio standard used in Kodi Krypton for DTS & HD Audio passthrough.

Is this iec61937 supported in this new firmware? .?

Rii. One attempt and that one went south. I'll keep using this one and report back. It's a really nice remove vs the standard one so...

You can use MX Player instead of the buggy HiMedia player. I posted a thread how to switch + integrate it under Kodi:

Hi all.  Just completed the upgrade and did a quick test if files.
NOTE:  All settings are lost with this firmware upgrade, even without using the pin method.
There is a need to fully re-set audio, all video and time settings (defaults to China) before first use.
Auto HDMI and 24Hz does still work for 1080p when switched on.
Kodi also needs settings checked as mine turned off "audio passthrough" and defaulted audio to 2.0 rather than 7.1 (which did not affect 7.1 playback in MediaCenter or Kodi via wrapper)

Kodi 17 RC is automatically installed.  I like the new look of the standard skin :)
Even though I copied over my "userdata" directory files from Kodi 16.1, it wanted to start the library from scratch.
(I should have used Kodi back-up app instead perhaps).
I have stuck with the new 17.  Due to the number of files in my library, it is taking a long time to complete the scan.

I can confirm that TrueHD and DTS-HD MA 7.1 both pass fine to my AVR via HDMI from Kodi and MediaCenter.  DTS and DolbyDigital pass fine as well.
FLAC 7.1 still has the previous "quirk" of passing in 2.0 unless there is another audio track (like TrueHD 7.1) on the same video file  ???.

The duplicated drive names from Kodi 16 and Android 7 have thankfully all disappeared now  ;D

In Music, under Kodi FLAC 5.1 audio was only passed as 2.0 PCM this time BUT the same track passes as 5.1 using MediaCenter.
Not sure why, so I may need to re-check Kodi settings once I find my way around the new interface.

The MediCenter is no longer showing "shorcuts" for previously logged NAS drive directories as it has in past firmware.  Can this come back please?

Me too.

The "tagging issues" on subtitles have been fixed, but the more critically "missing subtitles" is not fixed.
And the cause is as written, if the time between 2 subtitles is less than a frame you risk missing the subtitle.
The logic for putting the subtitles in the next frame needs more work.

This issues with overlapping subtitles can be easily fixed, just run the subtitles through a software that can fix this even in a batch. I really do not see this as such a big issue like the others that have not been fixed by HiMedia and cannot be fixed by us.

I have over 500 subtitles in various folders in my library. I won't start to fix them all just because they cannot fix an issue which all player are able to handle. I already done that when they were unable to implement auto encoding recognition in their player. Which is still not working btw. Furthermore if I download a subtitle with the online plugin now I need to turn on my PC and fix it instead of just start watch the movie. I paid HiMedia good money for a compact player. I don't want to do additional work with every second movie I want to watch. I just want to hit the play button eat my pizza drink my beer and enjoy.

The subtitles with zero time gap not displaying problem was only reported to HiMedia on 9-JAN. 2.0.1 was built on 10/11-JAN so there wasn't time for this fix to be implemented. It will come in next fw.

Can you provide the .md5sum for these downloads so file integrity can be verified before flashing? Thanks.

It isn't necessary because we package the update.zip inside a parent .zip.

So the update.zip will not extract if the download is corrupted.

For the Android 7 to Android 7 Q10 Pro firmware, the MD5 of update.zip is 0B5F61577E35E7D5ABE2495090563BCA.
For the Android 5.1 to Android 7 Q10 Pro firmware, the MD5 of update.zip is B30D1AD8C1C183A82767471B431F1C7E.

It's strange because now stream starts (for few seconds).

Verified and bug report sent to Himedia. It's strange because audio continues playing after video stops. It works in Android 5.1, 1.0.9 so that would be an option if Amazon Video is essential.

The "tagging issues" on subtitles have been fixed, but the more critically "missing subtitles" is not fixed.
And the cause is as written, if the time between 2 subtitles is less than a frame you risk missing the subtitle.
The logic for putting the subtitles in the next frame needs more work.

The subtitles with zero time gap not displaying problem was only reported to HiMedia on 9-JAN. 2.0.1 was built on 10/11-JAN so there wasn't time for this fix to be implemented. It will come in next fw.

And the bug about the resolution?
It's one of the oldest and it's been fixed in the 1.09 fw.

I tested if the wireless keyboard with touchpad is recognized properly, but it is not (Microsoft All-In-One). Virtual keyboard is still displayed when I try to type anything. I did not see any downgrade, from my point of view.

This issues with overlapping subtitles can be easily fixed, just run the subtitles through a software that can fix this even in a batch. I really do not see this as such a big issue like the others that have not been fixed by HiMedia and cannot be fixed by us.

The error is not just overlapping subtitles, this error can be fixed as you describe.
The error is when the <EndTime> of subtitile-1 and the <StartTime> of subtitle-2 is less than a frame apart, then you risk losing the display of subtitle 2.

I am forced to use Kodi for playing such media files.

I think that using Kodi + Wrapper is the best alternative. What sound format are you having problems with? I do not have (yet) a receiver or a decent audio system, so I am not sending RAW sound over HDMI, I am forcing it to be 5.1 for overall compatibility.

Problem of overlapping subtitles (letters) has been said several times.
Still not adjusted.
Especially I would use himediaplayer the quality of images is outstanding.
But because of the overlap and also not being able to display double subtitle at the same time as mxplayer I do not use himedia player.
And also left / right time scaling put a limit (eg 10sec, 30sec, 1min)
And kodi does not read HDR.
I say that for the bilingual countries in the cinema one displays the 2 national languages during a film + forced subtitle.

I have encountered a couple of problems with this new software
1) xvid.avi files are played back in full screen not letterbox as it should, I've checked the playback settings and full screen is not selected (kodi without the wrapper plays them back correctly as letterbox, as does vlc on my computer)
2) Youtube 4k 60fps clip is played back at 23.976fps not 60fps (vlc tools on my computer shows the playback properties for this file as 60fps).

With Android 7 releases (I don't remember how it worked in version 5.1) you don't get multichannel audio.
At least not with a HDMI connection.
All audio get downmixed to 2 channel PCM.
I have tried almost all setting possible (pass through etc.) in Kodi but no luck.

I am pretty sure, that the hardware is capable but whether it is an Android or a Kodi issue eludes me.
If anyone has this working with a HDMI connection then please share your setup.

+1 to that, I get multiaudio channels even with the latest 7.1 sound formats (7.1 Dolby Atmos and 7.1 DTS:X ) through Kodi 17 rc, and also through the Himedia Media player through HDMI to my AV 7.1 receiver. and I am using the latest 2.0.1 Android 7.0 firmware.

After using the new 2.0.1 firmware for 3 days (I downloaded it from another forum where it was posted on Monday, but it is exactly the same package I already double checked for each of the files in the package) here are my impressions:

The Positives + :

- Better and louder sound overall
- Better image quality
- Very fast boot time, reduced to less than 20 seconds
- Kodi 17 RC runs smoothly, with 7.1 HD sound pass through finally working

The Negatives so far - :

- HDMI CEC still not working (will it ever be? I remember we have been claiming this since back in last summer when firmware 1.06-1.07 was used) , this is very annoying as it makes my AV receiver and Tv sync go crazy and I have to switch manually between the sources. I started when I connected the Q10 Pro to the system , others can confirm this as well, as I read is a general problem.

- HDMi resolution is not fixed, goes back to 1080 60P no matter what, if I choose 2160 60 p it keeps it longer but will ultimately change to 1080P 60p , thus forcing me to manually change to 4k again ( I do have an increasing collection of movies in 4k mkv format)

- Subtitles problems as stated before , the annoying bug of not showing some subtitles if frames change fast.

- If I play some 5.1 or 7.1 mkv music files under KODI 17 they remain silent (the known bug of not having 2 sound tracks one of 2.0 and one of 5.1/7.1) , with Himedia media center they work just fine.

I don't use KODI a lot, since I prefer the image and sound quality of the HiMedia Media Center so I cannot explain about plugin experiences and other image/sound problems others have reported.
Also I do not use Netflix, or Amazon Prime with Q10Pro, my netflix works just perfect in 4k and 5.1 sound with my Panasonic TV Netflix App, and I use chromecast to cast Amazon Prime to my TV directly, thus I avoid using Q10pro for streaming. I am a bit picky on image and sound quality and I admit Panasonic Netflix quality spoils me so I am simply oppose to watch anything under 1080P these days.

Anyway I am sure I have missed some issues , but this is in overall what I have experiences in the past days.

HD Audio passthrough is working. So if you pass the audio to a DTS/DD capable AVR you will get multichannel audio.

My Surround receiver is an Anthem MRX 720, basically capable of playing all audio formats.
I have set all pass through formats to "on", is there anymore to do?

Please share how you made it work.

Sorry, should have made it clear, that the issue is with Kodi 1.7 and not the HiMedia player.

I also have to confess, that the issue is related to a Q5 PRO and not a Q10.
But I assume the audio hardware/handling is the same.

The MX road is my third choice  :)

Audio channels = 2.0
DECODE AC3 = NO !!!!!
Audio passtrough YES
Dolby HD capable receiver YES
DTS HD capable receiver YES

First impressions are positive on my Q10 Pro.
Disappointments:
- Netflix still crashes every time I hit the back button. I was really hoping this would be fixed.
- Bitdefender antivirus also now suddenly crashes (didn't use to) when applying permissions
- Kodi Krypton came pre-installed with this update. Wrapper doesn't work and crashes.

I am having this same problem with the new Kodi, also, what happen to the DVD player option when you select the PLAY WITH option.

Yes possible but we would recommend a fresh install.

The worst that could happen is that some apps have corrupted settings, so give it a go if you're prepared to clean up a bit afterwards (I'm thinking Kodi database and settings).

Hi Futeko and all,

This latest firmware 2.0.1 for Q10 Pro crashes Himedia player (Himedia kodi wrapper) if trying to watch video streams from ** addon in kodi 17 RC (3), but it does work perfectly for videos on your local NAS drive.

Secondly kodi's native player in kodi 17 RC (3) still hasn't sorted the audio pass-through. I know it's not passing through my digital optical output. One user in your forum says hdmi audio pass-through works(need more people to convince me of this).

ABSOLUTELY NO SOUND WHEN AUDIO PASSTHROUGH IS ENABLED DURING PLAYBACK(no basic audio codec either.) Menu sound works. DISABLING AUDIO PASSTHROUGH BRINGS BACK STEREO SOUND for all videos.

I've also got zidoo X5 andriod box that runs a kodi 15.xxx Isengard native player and it passes audio through my digital optical output.

Please help and sort this out.

Yes.  I did this but also found it wipes everything still and completely re-installs Android so all settings (video, audio, Samba, even country and time) need to be changed.
It also installs Kodi 17 RC and this needs all default settings changed including Audio so that 7.1 passthrough works ok.
Default is 2.0 and non-passthrough.
There are also tick settings in Kodi to tell it your AVR can handle DTS-MA and TrueHD as well as standard DTS and AC3.

Funny because I too came from the custom 2.0 firmware and could not upgrade by the normal procedure of turning off the device and while pressing the upgrade/reset hole turning it on again. I had to upgrade from the upgrade function but, putting the update.zip onto an SD card, as someone suggested in this forum.

I couldn't get the passthrough working after the 2.0.1 update as well. I can get stereo sound from Kodi 17 video player and it's only when I disable passthrough.
Wrapper still skipping subtitles and still unable to download subtitle of my language choice.
So, I now have two options. Either stick with wrapper and skip subtitles or use Kodi video player and lose sound depth. Any solution proposal is welcome.

I have done a boatload of testing between 5.1.1_ 1.0.9  & 7 - 2.0.0/2.0.1, For me as the soul support for US based Kdlinks brand I have to say 7 Nougat needs a *uckload of development before it becomes the standard for the Q10 Pro, Currently Android 7 is indeed a basket case, However Himedia /Futeko im my opinion has the best support/Firmware Dev's in the business,  Please all of you be patient Futeko and his team are on it, You will not get better support elsewhere, You wont find the kindness and support Futeko provides anywhere else !

Patience !

It will be right, some things just take a bit of time....

whatching streams coming from my VU+ satellite receiver are not watchable, nor by Kodi, nor by the Vu+ Android app. Take a random Chinese Android box (I've tested 2) and the VU+ streams are played back smoothly, without one stutter. In my opinion the Imprex Engine is the root cause, cause it's not possible to disable it completely.

Nor Android 5 firmwares, nor Android 7 firmwares solved that problem till now.

we need a fix for the wrapper !!!!!  :(

If you mean the problem where streams aren't played at all, try replacing Kodi playercorefactory.xml with the attached version.

All I've done is replace references to 'DVDPlayer' (Kodi 16 and earlier internal player) with 'VideoPlayer' (Kodi 17 internal player).

It enables playback via the Youtube addon in Kodi 17 and will proably do the same for more exotic addons.

playercorefactory.xml on Q5/Q10 Pro is located at /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata/playercorefactory.xml

Either find it using a file manager like ES File Explorer or enable Samba and navigate to the directory on a PC/Mac. Viewing hidden files must be enabled in your file browser.

Unfortunately this does not appear to solve the problem.
With Wrapper set to Himedia it just throws up an error that the Wrapper has stopped.
With Wrapper set to Kodi it just throws you straight out of Kodi.
"Play using" does not remedy the matter either.

Where is attached version ? This needs urgent fix as this has rendered Kodi 17 useless

I had to uninstall Kodi 17 and install 16.1 and wrapper works fine

with this playercorefactory.xml, even Kodi 16.1 is not opening any stream

with wrapper created playercorefactory.xml, at least kodi 16.1 was working fine

pls test on your device and give us an updated wrapper apk which generates working playercorefactory.xml which will work with Kodi 17

That playercorefactory is designed only for Kodi 17. It will not work with Kodi 16.1.

Kodi changed the name of the internal player from DVDplayer (all Kodi versions prior to 17) to Videoplayer (Kodi 17).

The prcisti custom version of 2.0.1 allows you to change launcher. I'd recommend installing it. http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=812.0

For Samba shares with password you need to enter Samba details into wrapper app (My Apps - Wrapper).

NFS shares only work with wrapper when they are without password.

For NFS shares with password see here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=813.0

Hi guys

I am facing a weird issue since upgrading to FW 2.0.1 (from 2.0.0)

I had to update/refresh my movie library in Kodi as usual after each FW update.  I use the Movie Database add-on. The issue is that after every 3-4 movies, it kept hanging and giving me some connection lost message. My internet connection is very stable and I only faced this during the library refresh.

Is this a Kodi 17 issue or something wrong in the firmware?

Not really liking Kodi 17 so far... The new file listing aren't that good. I have a huge list of movies/tv shows and I can't find one "simple" to use such as the old Thumbnail view of Kodi 16. The new "Wall" listing is close but movie names don't show up below the movie poster and for the movies not synced/refreshed yet, the font used for the movie titles is horrible with a bad resolution and is truncated!
I really wish I could find a better alternative to Kodi...

Regarding the message "connection lost": I got it once a while ago, but there was an issue with the website itself. I suggest you try to access TheMovieDB or TheTVDB websites https://www.themoviedb.org/ and http://thetvdb.com/ on a browser and see how well they respond. It is not an issue with Kodi or the player, the websites get a lot of requests and sometimes they cannot handle them that well.

To get the movie list displayed as some skins did with Kodi 16 you have to tap or select the A-Z button, then select how you want to see the movie list. There is a "Poster" list that resembles the thumbnail list. Maybe HiMedia should stick with Kodi 16 and switch to Kodi 17 when it exits beta. People are having new issues because of Kodi 17 Beta.

My daughter brings it on every time she's touching Rii remote.
I'm yet to find a hide option so the only way to get rid of it is to reboot the unit.

My Q10 Pro on FW 1.0.9 still wont keep the Resolution after Reboot, falls back to 1080i from 2160p.
The Bug should be fixed in 1.0.9, but  it isnt;)

Does it work in this FW here?

And when will they change to the fixed SDK for proper 3D BR Playback at native FPS ?

Still no working FPS Change on 50/60hz Sources...

Can i assume that these Bugs will be fixed finally before a new Unit comes to the Market?  :o

Q10 Pro offers a lot, but FW is still nothing what makes a User happy, still to much Bugs...and new Bugs in any new FW, not nice

3D BD isos still playback at inappropriate 24Hz rather than 23.976. (Depends on the TV you have, whether or not will be perceptible, some TVs can compensate it very smoothly.)->Bug present from the very beginning, and I can agree with those who are inpatient regarding this basic feature.

25/30 to 50/60Hz switch can be botch up with the HiPlayer framerate patch.-> Still not the expected solution. And makes the whole a bit awkward, that Himedia still couldn't implement it in their official firmwares, as the patch is present also from like the beginning.  (Facepalmish).

thanks. that worked. but it shouldn't have to be like this, as the "hide" button is on the navigation bar in the 5.1 FW. I don't see why they couldn't bring it over to Android 7 as this is a very minor issue.

So there's no way to get rid of it just by using just default or Rii remotes?
I tried dragging downwards the bar, using Rii, but for some reasons I can't.

I'll try next time when this happens.
Still, it is strange and it should be fixed in firmware. Nobody should have a problem disabling/hiding this useless bar because this bar should never show on (btw: does anybody knows the secret sauce to make the bar appear? I only know that some unfortunate touch of Rii makes the bar appear, but I'm yet to find what is that unfortunate combination)

A lot of people use the bar. It makes switching between applications easier.

It's enabled by mouse click at the bottom of the screen.

Except in Himedia firmware (against the main Android behavior) "X-ing" them, it doesn't results the close of an application, rather than just removing it from the "recent apps list" (makes no sense in practice). You can check it->Settings and Running Apps= The ones you have closed in that the factory "task manager" are still open and running.

So it's rather the "recent apps" list than "open and close" app menu. Maybe that one needs also be supervised, but still a minor flaw. Himedia still has some other more mean bugs to look all over....  So 1.st things 1.st...

Isn't it about time that we had a definitive list of settings in the FAQ section, and that this list is kept up-to-date by the Admin? Much of what is already there is out of date, we have to search through several postings like this is order to find out what the optimal settings are.

Probably wouldn't hurt...I'm a tech guy for a living so I just had to tinker around to find it, but the testing part can get rather annoying over time.

The problem is that the goalposts are always shifting.

What do people think are the optimum Kodi settings for playback using Kodi internal player Kodi 17.0 / Android 7 right now?

So are you suggesting that it's a case of "trial and error"?

Currently, my box is working well  :)! But this is due to my trawling through these forums and applying the many hints that other people have suggested.

I think it's time that all of these hints were available in one place, in the FAQ section.

A small number of HiMedia sales people will be at the TV Connect show in London 28-30 March, but it's more than a month away and wouldn't have any bearing on firmware development anyway.

This question has been asked so many times, that I suggest futeko to include the answer in the FAQ or another related fix topic.
Anyway one of the differences is that the internal ROM capacity for the European/international device is 16 gb as opposed to the Chinese version  which only has 8 Gb, so you can check in the storage part of the settings if it shows 12 Gb and something (the rest is occupied by the system itself) then it means you have the EU/INTERNATIONAL version.

Do you think that a new firmware will be released for Q10Pro or a new player with all current issues corrected will be released ignoring the Q10Pro ? the delay for implementing the Kodi 17 without wrapper seems to point to this and this is what usually happens to most of the players.

I would say people are missing something.
Once again kodi programmers broke things and now people are crying for support at the wrong place.
Ask at kodi place for support. They have shut you out.

Since Mpaa has thrown an eye on kodi this won't help getting support from manufacturers.

But since 2.0.2 is still missed things could end good for you ans HiMedia brings a solution for kodi 17.x

There is a issue playing videos with the 201 firmware I just installed.

When I press play the file starts to play BUT nothing shows on the tv for apx 9 seconds.

All videos now start playing with no audio and no video for the apx first 9 seconds

I corrected the above issue by installing firmware 109 then updating to 201 firmware

Previously I had installed firmware 107 then updated to 201 firmware. That may have
caused the "apx 9 second delay issue" I had.

My Q10 Pro is now working fine with 201 firmware and I now have Android 7.

Not sure why updating in that way would fix it, but reinstalling the firmware can often solve background config/setup problems.

I noticed in a separate post that someone else had the same issue I encountered yesterday when I finally attempted to upgrade from 1.09 to 2.01.  Originally, I was having problems with audio sync and stuttering with HEVC 10-bit...it looks like current recommendation is to use MX Player, which I'll try...unless there is another solution to allow HiMedia Player or Kodi to play them correctly.  Before trying 2.01 I tried 1.10 and lost a USB port...a completely different issue I just posted about in that particular firmware thread.  Anyways, after successful upgrade to 2.01, I immediately found that LAN access to external network storage was gone.  I can see the drive but attempting to open it and access folders/files results in network error...please check network state error or something similar.  I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked.  Eventually I could view the folders and files in Kodi, but attempt to open them resulted in a failure to mount error.  I had to give up, based on someone else who posted on same problem and downgrade back to 1.09.  If anyone knows a solution to this...aside from staying at 1.09 or waiting and being hopeful that 2.02 fixes it, I'm all ears.  Thanks.

As far as I could unravel your issue, you've tried to access through LAN->Search option. Try to manually add the shortcut's attributes in Media Center, like your sharing devices IP address and the shared folders name, on-by one... Also you could try the same in KODI->Add SMB Source.

Yep...that was how I was trying to access the network drive.  Works just fine under the 1.XX firmware.  When I get a chance I may try again adding it manually (after upgrading back to a 2.XX firmware).  The issue was that when the manual entry came up it was asking for stuff like "account" and "password."  I don't have my network drive secured like that...it is open as long as the router password is known.  While I'm not the only one with the issue (I saw your post in the other thread on this specific topic where the user posted the pictures of the error), I'm guessing that others have been able to access external drives hooked up to routers.

But on the other hand....shortly released Beta firmware....does HiMedia now think to have a carte blanche to do nothing for some more month?
By releasing new firmwares for old  Android they impede the process to get Android7 working like it used to.

Official 2.0.3 will be released on this forum tomorrow. Should have been today but upload speeds in China are slow.

It won't fix everything.

I hope it does fix some things compared to Firmware 2.0.1 from January. If not, or if it fixes some things but has setbacks on other, like lack of contrast/brightness manual settings or not being able to switch off Imprex engine then it really makes no sense.
Futeko can you confirm this. Do you have a list/log of the fixes?

It won't fix audio passthrough in Kodi 17. The latest information is HiSilicon say early May.

In the meantime the 'shitty' builds of Kodi 17 (Kodi 17.1 with Kodi 16.1 audio system restored) provide the same 5.1 channel audio via Kodi internal player as Kodi 16.1. The HDR aspect ratio bug must be fixed somewhere in that list?

Thanks Futeko. It's great to see there's progress happening. I'm currently running custom 2.0.1  with jarvis. Not ideal but  its a pretty good compromise for my needs at the moment.  I haven't tried the shitty krypton build. Is it stable? Debating as to whether or not I should update to 2.0.3 when it is available or just wait till May.

Well...I'll admit that I'll be tempted again.  I'm still concerned that I didn't see any fixes for issues that I know I'm not the only one to have.  In particular, and as recently as today when I got the bug to try 2.0.1 again only to go back to 1.0.9 a few hours later:

- instability with USB drives installed.  On 2.0.1 they would show up only for me to get errors in misc file managers about inability to read.  0 issues with 1.0.9.
- inability to use media center to get to network drives.  I could access via a file manager but media center would always give network errors.  Again, no issues with 1.0.9

I would love to enjoy being on Android 7 but the firmware just doesn't work.  I'll definitely read feedback from those that get 2.0.3 working.

Q10 Pro Android 7 to Android 7 download now up here: http://www.futeko.com/newforum/index.php?topic=1865.0

HDR and Kodi passthrough are not fixed. Both need HiSilicon work and both are scheduled for early May. My testing indicates that sub spacing is fixed, but my testing has not been extensive. It needs testing in the wild over many hours and many moives. I think the USB and network error bugs are fixed. 2.0.1 was 4 months ago, 2.0.3 is a big improvement in terms of stability.

You make us curious, I hope it will fix the major bugs, like the audio passthrough.

See here: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=289735 and here: http://mirrors.kodi.tv/test-builds/android/arm/kodi-20170411-a4896c0-shitty-armeabi-v7a.apk

Thank you! But now I'm use firmware 1.0.9 with Android 5.1 and so far it works well with Kodi 16.1 so I think I'd better wait for that update in May?

My Q10Pro displays the following firmware
Android: 5.1.1
Build number: HMD-1.0.9 2016-12-13.091707

I ordered my player through Aliexpress.
It seems the new firmware/updates are more android 7 version.

Are there any major drawbacks of upgrading from android 5.1.1 to android 7.
Please share your inputs and accordingly i will update as per the instructions given on page 1:
Instructions if Android 5.1 (firmware version 1.0.1 - 1.1.0) currently installed on Q10 Pro:

Potential drawbacks for version 2 that I've discovered are:

If you use the Hicontrol Android app you will need a phone or tablet running Android 7.

If you stream from a PC via folder shares I found that MediaCentre LAN option doesn't like spaces in the shared folder name. Others may not have experienced this problem. I worked around this by renaming folders with underscores in place of spaces.

You will need to disable the joystick addon or "return" and "menu" remote control buttons don't work. Not a problem unless you use a joystick/joypad to play games using Kodi.

If you have already started populating your libraries then you may well have to do it again as I found a restore of my library from the Kodi Backup addon didn't work. Restores from any version 2 to 2.04 should be ok.

I did find one DVD ISO (Envy with Jack Black) that was very jittery using the wrapper but it plays ok using the Kodi 17 native player. I recall it was ok either way with 1.09.

I don't have a 4K TV so there may be others relating to this that I don't know about.

If you upgrade to version 2 it makes good sense to complete the path to 2.04 as that appears to be a pretty solid release.

Do i do each update one at a time? no skipping firmware versions?

From what others reported so fa for sure regarding the 2.0.5:

-Imprex flickering bug is more likely to present (ruins the whole PQ, but if you don't use Imprex, juts turn it OFF and ignore this).
-embedded subtitles are not OK (freezing lines bug)
-significant drop in internet and SAMBA speed (some reported also choppy 4K playback via LAN, like SMB).

Others might also complete/correct my list if i'm missing something...

It depends on the instructions of the firmware version, usually is one at a time.

None of the above  ???.

I have to say that, after a year of use, I'm now quite happy with my Q10, it does everything I want  :D!

Using  ANDROID 7 &  HMD-2.0.5 (pcristi version).
